Super Blog!

Yeh, you dont have to tell me, I'm aware my many followers that I am not keeping up on the Breakfast Posts.         So I'm gonna try something thats never been done before.... Wait.... I'm going to Blog on 3 Restaurants at the same time, so hang on get a cup o jo, here we go!   The time frame is fuzzy but lets just say we visited these places between August and now.          Ok the first joint the FF(Famished Four) prescence graced was a little place in the  Columbia City neighborhood of Seattle. called" Geraldines Counter", I remember  it was a sunny , beautiful day and we were starving! the whole area down there is going thru a bit  of revamp, homes, restaurants etc, its becoming nicer and people are showing up!        We had a bit of a wait, seems to me, not to bad, 10 or 15 minutes tops, the joint was jumpin lets just say.       So we were seated and bev orders were taken...do I have to say?... ok Msue ,Ice T w/lemon, Ol Hot T oh cmon! yep Hot T, and Smoj had H20 , and of course got to have My Coffee, after all its the whole purpose of this bloggin thing right?  .... The perfect combo of Grub an Jo........ and quite frankly, I really could stop anytime, for there are a few places that rank pretty high , but alas I will not stop, to dissapoint my many fans out there?, (all five of you) well, its would be selfish!              So Food you ask?  Msue had the Bfast Casserole, eggers cheese veggies all baked, kinda quiche like, but no crust..... welldonesideosalsa! of course, Rave reviews until she tasted mine, which I will get to in a moment..... Smoj.. along with her water...yawn... had the small french toast, crispy and delicious ! was her comment, and  I gotta say, looked pretty good, thick, kinda small, but something I could see my self ordering at some point, only perhaps a larger version .
Ol Hot ordered the "Homemade CB Hash"    H Tizzle likes his hash , he duz! along with eggs poached I believe, and the toast of the Rye persuasion, nice lookin plate o groceries for Ken.                  You know me, I hate to be the star attraction all the time, but heck someone has to right? its my damn blog is it not?....... Big surprise here ..... CFS, sausage gravy, crispy browners, eggs over perfect... and the coffee? well lets just say it was Jotastic!, its funny I at first thought my portion of cfs was a little tiny, until I realized they had to fold it in half to fit it on my plate! Yep Yep! , darn good food, great service. Geraldines Counter, a return trip? most Def!                                     Right onward we go, so after that weekend, again not sure exactly, but after. we dined at the Portage Bay Cafe (U Dub district), I know ,faithful followers will remember we dined at the Ballard version of said Cafe and did not care for it, as far as Im concerned the whole organic thang! is a little overrated , an excuse to charge more.... that bein said it took a bit of convincing for me to go here, but go we did and this time we ditched OL Hot T and Smoj for some other friends..... Ok Ken and Val were in Portland or camping or had other plans, they just couldnt make it.      Lucky for us we have back up !     Tim and Kate Guerrero were are guests today.    Msue and I stayed at the Alexis Hotel that Saturday, a friend of hers got married and had their reception at the Hotel, so we stayed the night, we after all are quite fancy folks and like to turn it up up a notch from time to time.         Tim and Kate picked us up at the hotel sunday morning and off to the Portage Bay Cafe we went.         First off we called ahead to get our name in, on another beautiful sunday in Seattle, I dont really know what good it did, we still waited about 45 min, but the weather was nice and the coffee was good, no heavy biggy.      When we finally did get in and seated we learned it would be worth the wait.     I believe MSue had an Omlette, ordered as a scramble, eggswelldonesidosalsa! crispy hashbrowns and toast, dry wheat(yuk..dry wheat?) but thas how she likes her toast.    Kate on the other hand ordered the French Toast, which is famous there, its made with Challa Bread! thank you my jewish friends, your egg bread is delish!, thick and chewy! and cooked to a crispy perfection! what makes the F Toast here so special is they have a fixins bar for toppin yer toast! along with sryup, there is berries of all kinds ,whipped cream, apples, nuts and more fruits than I recall plus granola! afterall it is the Portage Bay!       Tim had the cornbeef hash! big chunks of meat and taters plus eggs over perfection and coffee as well he said it was Yumtastic!     (see, all my friends talk like that now)          I , not to brag, but my food was the best again!    hah hah nut in yer eye! I had the" Country Breakfast" which consisted of Three perfectcly cooked eggasaurus's over medium , sausage, bacon, brownersdecrispy....and a choice of pancakes or french toast, I of course opted for the latter, cuz it meant a trip to the fixins bar, and did I say the coffee was great, well it was .      So the second time to the Portage bay Cafe was a huge success great food, good company, it sounds sort of cliche ish, but it doesent get much better.       We did miss Ol Hot T and Smoj, but we will return, with em  in tow at some point.                     O k !!!!  next up is Voulas Offshore Cafe ,just a few blocks down the the street from Portage bay cafe, and right next door to the Famous Northlake Tavern!  , now weve been to Voulas many times, in fact its MSues Favorite place, she loves their Greek Hobo, but this time was differant, this time we had Patty and Eric Baker with us, great friends, they were up from Portland for Cassidys college grad party, and speaking of Cass, she came along as well, her boyfriend Brian did not attend breakfast he was playing golf with his Bros and his Pop, this time we really had to wait along time....easily an hour, but again nice and sunny not a big deal.     MSue of course had the Greek Hobo, eggs potatoes, and veggies all mixed up and topped with Feta cheese and baked to a crisp deliciousness that my wife so dearly loves, and Ice T w/lemon by the gallon,  what Patty  had escapes me, I guess  I need to take notes, i do remember she liked it a lot. Eric had the Irish Hobo, just like MSues but with cornbeef and cheddar, coffe as well for Eric.  So this time the Star of the meal was twofold, Cassidy and I both had the Chipoltle Bennedict! which consisted of  Voulas homemade smoked pulled pork (so good)  ridin topside of a muffin and smothered with their Chilpoltle hollandaise  , the food here is so good I sometimes forget the coffee is crappy, it doesn't really matter, Im gonna get it any ways............ so thus ends the bloggin for today I hope all five of you fans o mine got their fix, I will try to keep up a better pace... it is October, which means my birthday, which means, Charlies in Puyallup, Ima member of their exclusive club(I get bfast free for my bday) maybe I'll write about it!

A we bit o Irish nosh!

Well I have one word to say about our Breakfast at Paddy Coynes (Tacoma Version) MM! . Yes its a word, pronounced mm!! as in mm good!, ok I have more than one word.... duh.   Last Sunday, Ol Hot T and Smoj arrived at  Casa De Robey, bout 9ish, not too early not too late , just right.        The decision to go to Paddy Coynes was governed by a "groupon" that our uber thrifty friends (Hot T and Smoj) brought with and supplied... saved a few bucks... thanks guys.           Paddy Coynes  the Tacoma version is on about 8th and Pacific , super easy to find, parked right across the street , walked right in sat right down, sounds like a song does it not ?     We  were not the only ones  in the bar ,but it was pretty close, the young waiter approched the table and informed us of the 2.99 Bloody Marys and Mimosas.... Yeppers, bring us a round! I boldly shouted....well I think I said yes please, but they came and they were delish! probably the best... well a close second ( Nolas Bainbridge Isl), and get this they have a make your own Bloody Mary, where you can add anything you wish, condiment wise... sooo if you want 10 olives?... Spear em up! We however elected to let the bar create our Bfast Libations... excellant they were! Spicy and nicely balanced, served tall.   The Chickas opted for the Mimosas, the champagne version, also offered was a spiced rum type...interesting.         The Menu was interesting , what with Bangers and rashers and all things Irished up, Smoj ordered the Irish Bennedict, served on toast with Rashers (Irish Bacon) eggs your way, Hollandaise of course and some superterrific spudalinos, along side... crispy and delicious!     Hot T, did not have Tea, figured the B Mary would suffice, as far as chewable fare he opted for the Cornbeef Hash, eggs his way (over easy)... and topped with Hollandaise... What? Yep thats how it came, and it looked awsome!    Ol Hot concurred that it was , might just be my choice next time.         Now as far as MSue's , she ordered the Steak and Eggs, weird wild stuff huh?, usually if her food doesnt come all mixed up side of salsa, it dont come at all, but Steak and Eggs it was... eggsscrambledwelldone...no salsa?  same spuds as all, Steak ordered medium rare , and it arrived MEDIUM RARE!  nicely cooked piece of cow!  Sirloin, breakfast sized, but nice and thick, it also came with a brown pan gravy(country gravy they called it) on top of the meat, which she did order on the side, alas it did not arrive as such, the waiter was very apologetic... its ok MSue stated, good thing it was awsome, toast as well and plenty of Iced T,happy happy girl, and you know when MSues happy the whole day just goes better for all concerned.           My food is gonna sound a little anticlimatic, for I ordered the same breakfast as MSue, or she as I for I did order first, with the exception of my eggs were over perfect, and there was three of the little darlins right between my perfectly cooked med rare sirloin, covered in smacklippin gravy and the crispy taters ala awsome, along with toast and some darn fine coffee as well. Orange Marmalade Butter?  yep it came with the toast, Hot T said it was really good, big marmalade fan that I am, I was to enthralled with the yolky goodness of the eggs and the  yumtasterrific gravy, that I just couldn' be bothered with jam and butter, too much good soppin goin on!..... Sooo yep!   One word describes it all right    MM!     Second trip on the horizon no doubt!

Bloggin! Portland Style on Fathers Day

Well , well well...

Guess who has one functional thumb but who is still writing about what he had for breakfast? This Guy! Yep its been a while, but I've been a bit hobbled for a month or so, as most all of you know, for those that do not, a month ago I was struck by a car while commuting to work, broke my ankle, leg and my thumb... but I digress.       We ate at a restaurant in Lake Oswego, The Biscuit Cafe, ( Sorry Duane) I have a buddy who lives in West Linn, just adjacent to Lake Oswego.  We've talked about next time when in Oregon we'd get together for Bfast.  We were helping Cassidy move to an apartment in Beaverton, you know recently graduated, and very proud parents Jim And Marysue along with Mike and Sheri Brown (Brians Parents, Cass's boyfriend) helped out the kids with some furnishings, groceries etc.    Yes indeed it brought back memories for me, moving in to my first apartment... yada yada.       So next time Duane, I will definately call.             The Biscuit Cafe is in a sleepy little alcove of a Lake Oswegian version of a strip mall, that came highly recommended from our friends Eric and Patty Baker ( who live in Lake O) and after all it was Fathers Day and what better than to share our morning nosh with all involved as well as our friends Eric and Patty.   Alas, Ol Hot T and Smoj were not  in attendance, their daughter Amanda graduated from Oregon St that weekend so they were in Corvallis.          So breakfast?    Yep it was delicious, tho there was a bit of a wait to get in and a little mix up about who, what ,where how many , I dont know quite frankly I am just along for the ride considering my incopacitation , I just do what I'm told.      But in we did get, and once in the staff at the Biscuit was quite accomadating .       Sooo  the 8 of us had a nice table by the window, beverages poured, orders taken ... all was good.       Msue of course ordered a scramble of sorts, sausage, ham , cheese, veggies eggswelldonesideosalsa, and Browns  extra crispy and of course plenty of Ice tea w/lemon to was it all down. ( I ate the leftovers this morning) Cassidy had the Southwest Scramble, same kinda thing her Mom had , but coffee instead of the Ice T, Brian ordered up the Chorizo Scramble,it was all gone so I expect it was good, coffee as well for Brian. Mike  ( Brians Dad) had the Chicken fried Chicken, just like CFS only with chicken ,eggs over easy, along with buttery browns, again a dissappearing plate of food , coffee and a diet coke were his choice of beverage. Sheri went all plainjane , Eggs and potatoes... no meat, until Msue talked  her into bacon, so she could have some . For some reason what Patty and Eric had escapes me, but you know the routine, Patty ate part of hers... chicks huh? Eric ate all of his, it was delicious and the world continued to turn.      As for the Crippled Guy, I was pleasantly surprised to see a Southern Benedict on the menu, the only other place I've seen this is at the Chelan Cafe ( its delicious).      What  the Southern Benny is , is a homemade biscuit (also delicious) split. sausage patty, poached eggs ridin missionary style under a blanket of sausagetastic gravy mmmmmm   MM! crispy Browns as well, washed down with coffee that was a bit slow in coming at first but adequate, a little dissappointing as it was not Stumptown Coffee, something I've grown accustomed to in P Town.      So all in all it was pretty darn good and I will def  return , for  the french toast looked amazing, and the fact that Cassidy is there I have even more reason to head south.   Also by the time I go back hopefully my leg cast will either be gone or at least a differant color, its green and yellow, I was trying for University of San Francisco colors.... in honor of Cass's Graduation,.... sadly its more University of Oregon than San Fran... needless to say Jim got a little tired of the GO DUCKS remarks... (again sorry Duane) poor guy's a Duck till death.... Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads.... 30 plus years since mines been gone... still miss him. Gone from here but still in my heart...

Nikkis

Well its been a while, since last blogged, and frankly I was gonna skip this one.... but I guess any new place deserves a comment or two.   My Buddy Tim,yes the very same Tim from "Tims to go" catering. one heck of a cook! His girlfriend Sara were at Nikkis, the former 272 in Covington, for dinner and from what they said, had a great meal, Tim said the bfast menu looked good,so what the heck lets give er a go shall we? So we had a few more with us today, not the usual FF trip, so along with Ken and Val (Hot T and Smoj) also in attendance, were my daughter's Jessica and Cassidy! yay! and of course Cassidy's boyfriend Brian.       Cassidy ordered the Eggs Benny, Brian, the Taco omelette. Jessica ordered the Eggs Benedict, with a few variations, Egg scrambled well done,.... but please only 1 egg split between the two muffins... Really?  Sound familiar? apparently the Tomato doesn't fall too far from from the bush ay? Ken had a sausage and egg scramble.  The name of what Smoj ordered escapes me, but it consisted  of a couple eggsters, slab o ham, and biscuits and gravy, and I'm pretty sure she walked right through it , for her plate was as empty as a Mariners box score!          Msue ordered one thing ,then changed her mind and received Bacon and eggs instead,(eggsscrambledwelldonesideofsalsa)  not exactly what she ordered but stayed with it any way. Along with his meal Ken,  ol Hot T had the Hot Tea, weird huh? Water for Smoj... Ice Tea for MSue.   Coffee, (I think it was coffee) for the rest of us.     Cassidy's Eggs Benny was good, tho not spectacular, Brians Taco Omlette was really good, he stated, and as with most men his age (22?) really gone, Brians a good eater! Jessicas funny order of eggs benny arrived with two eggs insted of one,( no sh--) and both girls only ate half of their food .  Hasbrowns on all plates were crispy and good! MSue said the bacon was good! ( she does love her bacon).       I, as is my usual, a new place always dictates I order CFS, this I did, it arrived with the same crispy browns and eggs over medium, most was pretty good...... yep I said most, the Chicken fried Steak was probably the worst Ive ever had, while it looked good , it was tough, overcooked, and the gravy was tasteless , not a happy eater Jim...although the coffee was plentiful, I think it was made in the same pan as the country gravy, it had no taste as well.      Some of the food was good, we really should go back at some point, not sure we will, If Im going to Covington for breakfast, I'll go to  "Draft Choices" the home of the best CFS around!

Rubattino's in Renton

Well this morning the Famished Four were back on track, hungry and ready to strap on the ol feedbag. Governed by the entertainment coupon this am, we picked Rubattinos ( "best b fast in town") as quoted on the coupon. We had our great niece Mackenzie in tow this morning, while her older brother Keegan went to his ski lesson, along with Ol Hot T and Smoj, in we walked, bout 945 ish, special reader board out front beckoned us with such bfast delights as steak and eggs 7.95 , biscuits and gravy, 5.95 chicken fried steak Yada yada, you know the drill. yep once inside the quaint little cafe / Bar/ meeting place it was obviously seat yourself, so we did. I know this wasn't the case , but the cooks looked out at us like are you sure you want to eat here?, there was three tables out of 20 or so that were occupied, and the waitress kept telling the cooks I only have two arms! she wasnt that busy, but in her mind ... she was swamped! Ken ordered Hot T of course, lucky for him he didnt ask for something special like english b fast... Lipton it was! Val had her usual oj they did have that , MSue had Ice T... right? Nope, no Ice T for breakfast, they brought her hot T and two glasses of ice, didnt dare ask for lemon! I had what was probably the worst coffee I've ever had , but it came often. Ken ordered the sausage patty breakfast, 3 eggsters over medium, browns de mushy and of course the sausage. Val had the whatever scramble, deja vu... good thing it was on the menu like that, cuz I dont think Goin all Smoj on em and requesting an omlette like a scramble would have flown, .... but she said it was good, although cleverly disguised as whole wheat her toast arrived as rye...Yuck... Val dont do Rye. MSue, along with her homemade ice tea, had the Biscuits and gravy, she asked if it was good? the waitress replied, its our biggest seller, right after the Chicken Fried Steak, what a salesperson! Msue also asked if it came with Hashbrowns.. it did not! and after talking the Waitress into it, also got a side of HB's actually the skits and gravy were pretty good. Hmmmm! Steak and eggs for 7.95 what a bargain, thats for me I stated! You'll be sorry! Msue exclaimed, we ate at the Metropolitan Grill the previous weekend, your gonna be dissappointed! I ordered it anyway, Steak(medium rare) eggs over medium, browns over mushy, good thing I didnt order well done meat, it arrived that way. So funny thing our food arrived at the table in turn, Ol Hot T's came first, one minute later Smoj's arrived, two minutes here came MSues, then Mackenzie 's Pancake (well done) ahh at last my meal bringin up the rear, so the rest of the table got to watch me eat, as they were almost finished with theirs. We had to ask for the bill, she was so busy... I did tip her well, she was working herself into such a tizzy, So out we walked, a couple hours later, and as we did a happy couple was coming in, I almost advised them to keep walkin! but I did not. let them figure it out, All in all I guess the food wasn't too bad ( or too good) but Frankly, I dont see a return trip in the future

Beths Cafe!!

Well finally, after all the breakfasts we've eaten, after all the coffee I've swilled, in the name of a perfect combination of food and beverage, the countless cafes and coffee joints we've visited, We decide on Beths Cafe this last sunday. We had thought about it from time to time but always had a " better idea". What did it for me was Saturday night, Beths was featured on an episode of " The Ten Best Places to Pig Out" on the History Channel, Beths came in number four! Now I had been to Beths before..... Yeh..... about 35 years ago, round 3 in the morning when 5 or 6 of us split the big omelette, I'm pretty sure we finished it... and if I remember the 70's at all ( some of it I do) I'm pretty sure I barfed! , probably because of the alcohol consumption, not the food ( I'm just sayin) I'm kinda sorry we had'nt been there until now, I mean whats more Iconic in the Seattle area then Beths?, ok maybe the Space Needle or Canlis, if they have breakfast its probs on the pricey side, although the coffee might be better...sigh... I digress. Yes The Seattle Institution Beths Cafe, the famished four (FF) visited this little hot spot, and yes it is little. We arrived about a quarter to ten, kinda thought it was closed, we got a parking spot right out front and were seated immediately......Yeh, yeh ,yeh Ive got quite a rep dont I , The Famished Four just show up and in we walked in to what is the busiest and one of the smallest Cafes in Seattle, just like that (lucky) A Wave of 70's deja vu wrapped over me like an old plaid shirt as we walked to our table, ( a really good one in the corner by the window)..... A little about the menu before I start on the epicurian choices of the FF. We all know what Beths is known for right? Yep gigantimondo omelettes, egg o sauraus, they top out with the 12 egg variety, various toppins and fixins all surf daddyen on top of all you can eat hashbrowns, yes I too find that a bit ironic, that you get ayce browns Allong with a 12 EGG OMELETTE!!!!! now mind you, that selection is for the more healthier of appetites, they also have a 6 egg variety for those a bit less adventuresome, and for those on a diet, they have the 3 egg variety as well ( wimps). We however didnt go the omelette route, instead we opted for more of the traditional cravings, yes they have other options at Beths, we decided that would be a better choice for us. Keep in mind we the Famished Four had less face piercings then our hostess, we have none ,she had the rest, yeppers!, good ol Beths, from what I can surmise , has not changed in the last 35 years, dont really know.... the 70's were foggy for most of us. Any ways Ol Hot T had the Corned Beef Hash , ridin on top of the same all you can eat browners, eggs over medium (atta boy Ken) a very nice plate of food for ol Hot T, along with some English b fast T to swish it down, he did not heed the call for more taters, plenty o spuds underneath it all. Kens lovely Lady Smoj had the French toast plate, along with eggs scrambled and a slice of Ham, it too was a lovely plate of gnoshing fineness.... yep the box o shame accompanied Val home for she could not complete the task de chew! (cranberry juice was her bev) My Chicka de grrrrrrr! ( MSue) Ordered the Bacon and Eggs ( she does love her bacon) eggs scrambledwelldonesideosalsa..... Ice T by the gallon, hmmmmmm...mm the bacon was nice and thick, and she said the hashbrowns were a tad greasy,..... please.... they were yellowish from the butter.......mmmmm buttery! just greasy enough I say! Yes my meal was equally as delish as the previous 3. My choice was the "Beths Sampler" consisting of 2 biscuits covered with gravy( of the sausage variety) two egga mundos over perfectarino all ridin shotgun on yes.... all you can eat hashbrowns!! ( they come with almost everything) I gotta tell ya, the gravy was really good, very little actual sausage, but very sausagy flavor, obviously made in a well seasoned cast iron skillet, for the color of the gravy was a bit brown (didnt care! it was good and I ate it all) I did not however have seconds on the hashbrowns, in fact I did not finish the ones I had..... all in all a very nice plate of grub! plenty of Jo de blah to clean out the pipes , if you know what I mean. Yes Sir, a Seattle Icon, a real piece of our Pop Culture! and a respectable breakfast to boot!!! when we were done with our meal , I noticed that there were an awful lot of people standing out side, Must be a Bus Stop!, I exclaimed, ol Hot T pointed out that they were waiting to get in. Wow! musta been 20 or 30, quite an eclectic group it was , mostly of the pierced variety but there were some old folks, just like us, wating to strap on the Ol Feed Bag ( quite literally) Yes indeedy very good food, so so jo as is expected, just a hop skip and a jump from Mikalas in Greenwood for Coffee, and Vals fave Chai... Do we recommend it? Yes. Would I wait 20 or 30 deep to get in? Nope, just too many good places to eat in the Northend of town. I do think that Beths should have an art contest tho, they decorate with peoples renditions of their visit with white paper and crayons, some of it was very clever, although we wer not offered any such artistic ventage, on request only propably reserved for kids and late night swarrays!

Blog O Spect

Greetings one and all ! Happy New Year! I think at this juncture its time to look at this 'Hobby" and try to figure out where its going, what have I learned?, who's got what? Dont get me wrong ,I do enjoy this, goodness knows I do love to eat, I have however, decided that I need to stop eating so much , no Im not gonna start bloggin bout who has the best oatmeal, but I am gonna start cutting my portions in half, such as what I did this morning at what I have determined is my Favorite place to eat, not what Smoj or Ol Hot T like, or even Msue, My Blog My preferances! I do value their imput and going forward their opinions will be carefully noted, but today? It's all about ME! Drumroll please.........And the Winner is ? Browns Point Diner! after gnoshing at many Cafes, Diners, Bistros and Restaurants I have come to the opinion that I really dont have to eat anywhere else for breakfast, ( although I will) BPD 's food is that good each and every time , even their java de mediocre, seems to be better these days I asked today if they changed their Coffee, they replied No, but I was not the only one of their customers to ask this question, Hmmmm? Maybe they are using more Coffee in the prep , maybe they cleaned out the urn? I dont know, but I swear its better! The Eggs Benny is terrific, great CFS, Hashbrowns Perfect! Eggs are done to order by some one who gives a damn bout eggs, Great Service and Friendly Staff round out a really good place to eat. We went there last Sunday as well, the reason we went today was my daughter Jessica was in attendence, along with her friend Carter, and as per her Birthday request BPD was the choice! Along with great food and service, there was another thing that put them over the top in my opinion... Last week the FF (famished four) graced the diner with our presense. We arrived at our usual 930 ish , and there were a few couples in front of us, no problem there, the young hostess seated these two people. The young man in front of us claimed he was there before the previous group, and as his girlfriend was in the restroom , he was ignored by the Hostess, she apologized and offered to seat them straight away, I'm sorry sir, she exclaimed I did not see you, you may have this booth. Not good enough for Mister Impatient, as he tore into her verbally something fierce, questioning her intelligence (putting it mildly) asking what her job description was and how could she expect to keep a job anywhere if she was so incompetant in one so simple. It went on even after the young lady started to cry! I had to hold MSue back, she was so infuriated by this spectacle of ultimate rudeness! . I probably would have let her tear into him , if for not the Manager of the Diner stepping in and cross reamin this guy a new rearend for treating her hostess in such a manner, but she did it so professionally, not raising her voice, but kicked his ass out and told him never to come back! Well Done Jessica! (her name) part of a succesfull Diner is not just the food, but treating your employees with the respect they deserve. I always knew this place was one of my favs , that day it just put it over the top! There still are some places other then BPD that do deserve some accolades as well, some just for the unusual items that set them apart from the others, The Bay Cafe for example, Great Browns! Great Service and they have seafood for breakfast ( Oysters an Eggs mmmMM! ) again not very good coffee.... whatev! Oysters an Eggs!!!! nuff said! . Charlies in Puyallup, again crummy jo but their Breakfast Chicken in a Biscuit Sammy, is over the top good! Fried Chicken breast, eggs , stuffed in a biscuit and covered with sausage gravy! along with a side of an angioplasty, should last you the rest of the day! Lucky for me Starbucks is just around the corner. The Chelan Cafe, Great Bennys , good CFS, Biscuits and Gravy, Good ol fashioned service, and probably the best Pancakes in town! Although we havent been in a while, Petes Eggnest in Greenwood deserves a mention as well, for a tiny little place they sure put out the food! Big Scrambles, a big selection of Bennys as well as some Greek Items, Family owned and when your there, your family as well! Voulas OffShore Cafe ( MSues Fav) she loves the Greek Hobo! plus the Chinese Pancake( a pancake stuffed with ham and a fried egg in the middle of it, I dont know how it got the name but it is scrumptious) . Daves Diner in Sea Tac! Good food and probably the biggest CFS around ( The Motherlode) Dixies Diner in Sumner , giant portions, big menu, also family run, they have the best non hashbrown potatoes as far as I'm concerned (Dads Potatoes) sliced and deepfried! yeh baby!. Yes there are many great places to eat in and around the great city of Seattle but so few of these, with the exception of some of the upper priced, joints pour you a cup of quality Jo, I find that surprising considering Starbucks is local! The Hangar Cafe in Georgetown has Stumptown Coffee brewing there, but the menu is limited (mostly crepes) In contrast most of the places Ive eaten in Portland go the extra mile and pour this heavenly brew, as its local and it seems P Town has more alliegance to the homeys. Ther are a few places we the Famished Four didn't care for, I for one thought the Portage Bay Cafe ( Ballard location) was a bit overrated, Moms Cafe in Kent used to be good, last time there however , not so much. Might have to try the Black Bear Diner again, been a while, or even The Village Inn probably deserves a look by the FF. Yeppers theres a bunch of good eatin out there I'll keep lookin for perfection, the trifecta! Food ,Service, Coffee, I'l let you know if I find it here. BPD comes close!
