When in Georgetown...Hudsons!

I have been asked Ad Nauseam  when are you guys going to try Hudsons? Have you been to Hudsons?... and my reply has always been no .. Ol Hot T has thumbed down it ... didnt care for it , He said... ,...You see Ken, before he retired to the life of leisure , worked for the Army Corps of Engineers , as a Wildlife Biologist .. well the A.C.E happens to be located across E. Marginal wy from Hudsons and always said he wasn't impressed with  the fare, or the restaurant in general, and how it goes on Sunday, if someone isn't" Hip to the Jive" on "said local " we just don't go.                                              So Ol Hot T and his better half Smoj  (Ken and Val) were out of town, Oregon , I believe, and subbing in this time , were our good friends Ron and Julie... A friend of mine at work (thanks Theresa), had asked if we've ever breakfasted at the Hudson? .. her family had , numerous times and said it was Fabulous!.. Well I gotta try something that gets such rave reviews, and she is not the only one that shares that opinion, My friend Eric has also reported on the virtues of the venue and has mentioned its a place  worthy of a blog                                                                                                     So a couple of sundays ago , off we went to see what the fuss was all about.                                           We arrived about 9:00 or 9:30, I cant quite remember, and the host reported about a 20 minute wait, fine, thats not an issue, for the place was packed and people were sitting outside in anticipation of their morning nosh.                                                                                                                                   We had a parking spot right in front of the place, so we waited in relative comfort, for our turn.            The 20 minute wait turned into  45, but as stated, it was in all fairness quite busy.                                 But get in we did, and it all started with Beverages of choice, Coffee of course for Julie and I, Ron opted for the H2O, and my lovely Wife had Ice T w/ lemon as per her usual                                           The Bloody Marys looked interesting , big tall drinks they were, lotsa stuff in em and they came with a  Beer back  , sadly we all declined the boozy offer, and stuck with our more reserved choices.            Julie's choice for breakfast was the Hudson's special potataoes (Lincoln ave Potatoes), consisting of Yukon Gold spuds , apples, onions and cheddar cheese and garlic  with sides of meat and eggs an option... No sides for Julie, and she gave a big thumbs up to her meal,... Ron's choice of the day was the "Breakfast Tacos" ... Eggs , Sausage , cheese and salsa all snoodled up in flour tortillas , served with sour cream , scallions and hash browns, he liked em, but stated he would have preferred Corn tortillas instead of the flour variety..... My Smokin Hot Wife , Msue decided on the CFS, a huge slab of a meal with Country White Gravy and choice  of  eggsters and toast... no Browns offered... and frankly none needed, She did indeed like it, but took most of it home , for at least two lunches worth. A Veggie Patty is offered in substitution for our Vegans out there                                                           My meal was of course the Star of the table , once again, On my Friend Theresa's "reco", nicely done by the way, I had decided On the Shrimp and Cheesy Grits cooked perfectly with choice of Eggs, ( Over Med ) and toast..., plenty of good coffee, and very good service, may require a return visit. A lot of the food as it passed by looked amazing, although I'm gonna have a hared time not repeating with shrimp and grits, Msue mentioned she might opt for the same..... Although  , I did have the biscuit just to sop up juice of my choice this am, I hear the Biscuits and Gravy, deserve a try...... Now we just need to Talk Ol Hot T and Smoj   into joining us...

Little Jerrys... My kind of place!

I know it's been a while... Ok more than a while, and I've been requested  to please continue...sort of..... As is my modus operandi the Blog will continue when we get out of our weekly rut of visiting Maggie's on Meeker ( Kent) and move on to something different and unique... Well Little Jerrys fits both these monikers....soooo Blog I must.   I heard about Little Jerrys from a friend of mine, he informed me it was an Homage to the TV show Seinfeld... Still my favorite show..    Little Jerrys  is everything "Seinfeld" from the pictures and memorabilia on the walls to the menu with items named for episodes and characters from the TV series......So last Sunday we decided to head out for the new " Next Nosh".... A little different from previous Sunday's as our fellow Mastication partners were not in attendance , Smoj and Ol Hot T were off galavanting in Utah on vacation, so in attendance this am was my daughter Cassidy and her husband Brian...... We arrived at the venue probably around 9:30... And the fact that we were seated immediately was a miracle in and of itself, cuz you see, Little Jerrys  has the occupancy equivalent of a large closet... I think it seats 16 to 18 , with two tables reserved for parties of 4, the other were 2 toppers ,plus a counter that sits 3 or 4, so yeh , tiniest of tiny.. Oh yeh 1 table out side for those that prefer an El Fresco experience ..... The Tiny Cafe is in a small strip mall off 84 the in south Tacoma on Park ave in the Fern Hill neighborhood.             So about the food... Brian decided on the"Puddy" for his choice... Kind of a taco type mess scramble with eggs and taters, home fries or Browns, mozzarella cheese and pico de gallo... Yeh that's right! 7.95 wow a big pile o grub, two thumbs up from Ol Brian.... The females both had The Maestro, which is a classic Eggs Bennedict, served on top of Browns or Home Fries choice of toast... Both choices were nicely received , and not much of either was finished, the box of shame accompanied both chicks home..... Now as for my food of choice... I decided on the Kramerica , which was a Eggs Florentine affair... You know, spinach and tomatoes , but with Bacon, eggsters poached ala perfecto on top of Browns and covered with some very good Hollandaise  all washed down with tons of average Jo and of course Ice T was beverage choice of my lovely wife... All in all it was pretty darned yumtastic and we certainly will make a return trip with Ol Hot T and Smoj....Little Jerrys is also open for lunch... The burgers also on the Seinfeld theme sound really big and really good ... Oh yeh they have a TV for the Seinfeld viewing fans , with episodes  of the show .... Cereal bar desserts Yada yada yada

Hitting the Mark ,Burien Style

Yes , Its been a while, I am aware of the lack of Posts in Blogville, but up until now, its been "same ol same ol"..... yeh we've ate at Maggies a lot, please don't be "hatein" Maggies is really good all the time , its very consistent, and we were there on Saturday and ran in to an old Chum.. Eric and his wife Laurie,.....I'd like to think it was my commentary  that brought  them in as Maggies regulars..... oh the ego...right?..But I didn't take finger to key to talk about a place I've gone on ad nauseum .                     The old cast was together again this sunday, Yep the FF (Famished Four) was riding again, this time on Smojs  suggestion , we went to "The Mark"in good ol Burien  , or should I say Olde Burien, its west of Ambaum , on 152 nd.    Its a nice little Bar in a nice little part of said town, across from the Burien beauty salon (used to cut my hair there, Hi Norma) the Tin Room is across the street as well, also a nice nosh.. been there for lunch, I like Burien, it still has a small town feel, in places, some times it's hard to tell where White Center ends and Burien begins, but there is noubt that the Mark resides in Good ol Burien   and they have a Vinces there, nuff said!   (Best Pizza ever)                 So, The Mark....We had a late start this Sunday, did not arrive until 11 ish, but they Brunch till 3:00 , so no worries for the FF, we started off as per the usual... Ol Hot T had a Bloody Mary, Smoj had cranberry juice, Msue had of course Ice Tea with lemon and I copy catted Ol Hot T with my own Bloody Mary.... and Coffee.... Smoj was on point this am with her decision  to order the Crab Eggs Bennedict, which was constructed of ...Crab ( Dungeness) spinach and tomatoes , Hollandaise  of course , partnered up with house taters (country fried w/onions)  and just about polished the meal off, a small box of shame was requested, but was left at the table.... sigh! sorry Val.                                      Ol Hot T ordered the "Chevy" omelette  Ham ,Bacon and Sausage Peppers and Tomatoes all held in place with some good ol Tillamook Cheddar, no box of shame for the Hot Man,he walked through the egg dish and left no prisoners, pretty darned good Ken exclaimed!                                                          My very own Lovely Bride Msue , had the Mark Scramble, with Prime Rib and Tomatoes,Onions,Mushrooms and Provel Cheese,  Provel?  apparently its a blend, a melange of four white cheeses according to our Waiter ,It makes for a really good melt,.... Msue did not care for the Provel, she compared it to cheese whiz, she said she would try the Mark Scramble again , only with good ol Cheddar,      but she raved for the Ice Tea (Tahitian)   so not a total loss                                    I went a different direction ...Really?  How odd of me... I had the Baked Eggs Neptune, which consisted of Asparagus,Tomatoes with cheddar and afore mentioned Provel cheese, all smothered and covered with Hollandaise and Dungeness crab... snoodled up with Country Taters and a Biscuit  MM!   I actually liked the Provel cheese....this breakfast dish was quite possibly one of the best eats I've had had in quite some time...and Baked Eggs? delicious and runny, whites cooked perfect, the dish is constructed and the eggs are placed on top... and baked to perfection. covered with the sauce and consumed heartily .... the coffee was good as well, although apparently not bottomless, (refilled only once)    The Jams and Jellies were brought to the table in compotes with spoons, a nicer variation from the typical jelly packs... and they had Marmalade....Yep I love me some Marmlade!       The rest of the Menu was interesting, as in the Bread Pudding French Toast, (sounds Yumtastic)          The Mark also has a Breakfast Happy Hour, where your meal is 3 dollars off... I think Its Monday thru Friday early.....It was nice to go to a place new to  the Famished Four,I wouldn't say we've gotten in a rut. but nothing really Blog worthy, cuz it's really about the company and the food is secondary,    but when its really good , like todays fare was in my opinion, I gots to reach out to my Peeps and let em know That The Mark in Olde Burien Gets 3 MMs as in  MM MM MM!  besides I gotta try that Bread Pudding French Toast

Carriage Square Sports Bar and Grill

Ok , Kent is not just for Maggies on Meeker customers, Last Sunday the FF (Famished Four) plus 2, Cassidy and Brian joined us today..... Msue , on a recommendation from her Coworker Tracy,            Decided we would try Carriage Square Sports bar and grill.... Which will now , for the sake of brevity , be known as CSSBG..       Hot T and Smoj were hip to a new joint.. especially since the last one we picked was Dirty Oscars (Yumtastic), so we were on a breakfastacion roll                                 We met Mr and Mrs Hot T about nineish , they were waiting for us inside this pretty good size bar.. all by themselves... no one else was in there, a cook, a Bartender/Waiter, surrounded by Pool Tables, Pinball machines, Dart boards and a Air hockey table (cool) and assorted other Bar stuff.                     It was kinda funny, they looked, awfully insignificant at that giant table, and when we walked in they started to express there doubts about our choice  for BFast this AM .                                                     The Hot Man said . "Boy Jim" I dont know bout this place , they only have 4 or 5 items on the menu.............and I'm drinking coffee Jim.....Do you know why I'm drinking coffee Jim? Hmm?, ... Because they only have  Lipton Tea!  ........I cant Abide Lipton Tea Jim..... so I'm drinking coffee...sigh....Poor Hot T, such a Tea Snob... Its a bar in Kent!, the fact that they at least have some kind of tea, I thought was pretty cool..... that bein said it is a bar , and what else do bars have?  Hmmm? Cocktails!   ... Bloody Marys, Bloody Caesers, Mimosa's... Hell I could've had a Makers on the rocks..... but I didn't, that would be wrong.                                                                                         So on came the drinks, and I of course also had a cup a Jo, cuz its sorta my thang! no im sayin?            Ol Hot T and I did agree on one thing, the menu was small, bacon and eggs a Chefs special, some sort of a meat and potatoe and egg scramble...... and the show stopper..... Loco Moco!!  Yes!  and least their version of it.... in Hawaii, Loco Moco is a couple Fried Eggs, Brown Gravy on top of rice..MM!.... the Kent version is Fried Eggs , country gravy, on top of crispy hashbrowns                     And of course its what Brian and myself ordered, MSue had the special,...with a side of the country gravy....Nice choice Foof.(Msues nickname) Hot T and Smoj also ordered the special, but split an order...sans gravy....... The food was good , Msue really liked her morning choices, mine and Brians was Yumtastic!..... Cassidy had the Bacon and eggs....Yawn, but was all around pleased with her am requests as well...... You know it wasnt very expensive , the food any ways, but when you mix up Cassidy and Her Mom, and toss em in a bar....Well lets just say cocktails and pulltabs add quite a bit to the ol Tab, but it was fun, the food was good, I got to play pool with Cassidy..... If she wouldnt have sunk the 8 ball.... most probably I would have been defeated, much like the last time we played The basketball game "horse"    The little Sh-- beat me , shes got a left hand shot....oh well , you want your kids to succeed, just not do a victory dance after an ol man thumpin...but I digresss....CSSBG was really good, I woundn't mind a return trip at some point, the food was good, the cocktails were yum , coffee?,      Good ol Fashioned bar swill, and I drank it down with gusto!                                                         Thanks Tracy, Nice Bar!                                                                                 '

Dirty Oscars Annex... gotta like that name!

Boy Oh Boy! it sure has been a while since the Famished Four have been together on a Sunday, My Lovely Bride and I have of course been to breakfast, but locally , We've gone to Maggies in Kent.. So Good, and to the Chelan Cafe in West Seattle, also a fav......, But Today,my dear Blogofites ( people that read My blog)            We got the FF Gang together and journeyed to the out reaches of Tacoma to Gnash our Gnosh at Dirty Oscars Annex,   Its a little bar/restaurant in between the Hilltop and the  North  neighborhoods on 6th avenue, a couple blocks off Sprague, one of the many joints featured on Guy Fiettis show Diners Drive ins and Dives.
We went on a recommendation of my Friend (and boss) and her husband... Cristi and Mike Syverson,  Well I left one computer and signed on to another , man, tech savvy is not an attribute to which I aspire...but I digress.... so anyhow Mike and Cristi really liked Dirty Oscars, and , well you know me any time any place for Breakfast.              So as said,' haven't been with Ol Hot T and Smoj for a while and they were game for a new adventure                                                                               We were warned to get there early because there can be quite a line up, we arrived at 9 ish, waited about 10 minutes for a table for 4,not to bad I thought.                                                                            Our Waitress was Brittany today and she cheerfuly took our drink orders, answered a few questions , as there are always a few for the FF.....OlHot T ordered up a DOA Bloody Mary W/Bacon, cuz bacon does make everything better, not overly spicy, but Ol Hotty said it was good, Mrs Ol Hot T,(Smoj) had her self a Mimosa and Msue had a Vodka and Tomato juice, cuz shes just not into spice, they dont have Bloody Caesars at DOA, which is Msues bfast drink of choice,....so buy some Clamato juice! huh?    I decided to avoid the cocktails and go for the usual Caffeine express, basic tavern coffee,       plenty strong, and plenty of it.                                                                                                                   So as far as food go's, Ol HotT had him some Elk Hash!    yep he did it came topped with a couple o eggsters cooked to his likin, and swooshed it all down with the afore mentioned  Bloody Mary, followed it with a spot o Tea, thus the namesake............. Smoj ordered the Biscuits and Gravy, along with eggs scrambled and crispy hashbrowns, again all was to her liking, but alas she could not finish all the Fare presented her this AM, so the box of shame to carry home was appropriated at the time of meal completion.....Msue had the very  same Biscuits and Gravey... well actually ordered her own, only hers were with eggsscrambledwelldonesideofsalsa (one word) ...but Pico de Gallo would have to suffice.                                                                                                                                                      Now Mike Syversons recommendation of the Skits and gravy were accompanied by the quote  Best Ever!......Msue said...they were not sausagy enough for her, I tasted of course....and I thought they were pretty good...nice gravy, very silky smooth, but she did enjoy the meal, but maybe order something else next time......Speaking of something else? thats what I ordered!   I was gonna order the biscuits as well but since Msue had em, I alas could not ... its just not done!   My something else was The Apricot and Jalapeno coulis French Toast with a side of bacon , not a particularly huge portion , but plenty for an oldy like me...and I got to say  MM! it was sweet , it was spicy, it was delicious ....it was gone.     The Bacon served was thick and delicious and of course cuz I love her sooo much, Msue got a piece of my bacon                                                                                                So all in all a very successful breakfast outing it was , and the Menu was intriguing enough to make another trip down Tacoma way.....I saw they had Chicken and Waffles and Im gettin em next!             I would rate this trip four MM's! where a total of 5 is the max.... I dont just go by my judgement alone, I take a census of the table, so DOA associates, if your reading this   more sausagy gravy and buy some Clamato Juice so Msue can have her Caesars........you might just reach that 5th MM!    Oh yeh get there early..... before 9, there was a couple dozen waiting on our departure

Another Biscuit?....The Biscuit Cafe ... Federal Way

I assure you , There really is no "Biscuit Theme" here... that being said my lovely wife and I were at the Federal Way Costco on saturday when she looked to the left and said "hey!"  Biscuits open for breakfast, As it turns out, its the very same Biscuits franchise that we have visited  in Oregon, to rave revues I might add, So after a very short discussion ,Msue and I thought Hmm? Lets try it.                   Now I  really dont recall what we all had way back when, but I do remember it was in Lake Oswego with our friends Eric and Patty Baker, and our friends (now In laws) Mike and Sheri Brown, we were delivering a chair to our kids Cassidy and Brian(now Mr and Mrs Brown) , I was gimping along , broken leg and all..... and I remember The Stumptown coffee they served  MM!    So we were expecting big things from the morning nosh, my Bride and I                                                                   We were flyin solo this sunday as our fellow noshers were not in attendance... they're in the beautiful state of Hawaii enjoying some sunshine  with their own bfast, no doubt with some Hot T and a small OJ.........   So we arrived at "Biscuits Cafe" around 8:30 or 8:45 and sat right down, good timing on our part as it got increasingly busier and the line to get in steadily longer.    So as we sat and perused the  ample menu, Msue started reading the reviews on Yelp , and most were slightly unfavorable.         Not to be deterred, we started off our meal with an Ice T w/lemon and of course a cup of Jo for myself..... Sadly it was not the expected Stumptown I so enjoyed at the Lake Oswegian version ,but a rather poor substitute reminiscent of hot water with a brown crayon dipped in it.... mmm yummy        So a rather poor start for me... but it wasnt a total loss yet, poor coffee or not, they kept it full for me ...good job Jimella! our waitress for the morning.    MSue decided on Biscuits and gravy, With a scrambledeggsideofsalsa, ( one word) and of course the meat o choice BACON ( her favorite food ever!    and my Meal du jour was the "Country Benedict"  you find it more and more on different menus , it consists of a  Biscuit carryin a sausage patty topped with a couple eggys de poach, smothered and covered with Sausage gravy, both our meals came with hashbrowns... the star of both plates... crispy and delightful!... We both concurred that the Sausage gravy, while not the best we ever had was rather bland, but not so bad that we wouldnt come back to try this cafe again.... I think I would try something else, MSue was in complete agreement....                                                              The menu was pretty large.... some intriguing items were Huevos Rancheros....mmm mexi eggs!, might try those, also Chicken and Waffles  yumarroo!..... But all in all it wasnt too bad, it just wasnt great, the food that is, my eggs were poached nicely... and apparently Msues were scrambled to her satisfaction....I guess it all came down to the gravy.... soso as it was . So we'll go back, haul Ol Hot T and Smoj out of their Island Paradise and let them try it out with us.        This was the first time we've been to a local joint that wasn't Maggies , frankly an unfair comparison ,    but what was a highlight of our morning meal... was the service, our waitress Jimella was on point completely, Poor tasting coffee attentively full , two refills on MSues Ice Tea, and the hash browns were crispy and good and she did like her bacon.           Sooo dissapointed?  yeh a little.... discouraged?    nope! you gotta take some mediocrity with the Yumtastic   and we will give Biscuits Cafe another chance.... Lucky for me Starbucks was just around the corner

Seriously? Serious Biscuit

Ok I know I'm a week late on this, but considering my track record as of late, a week is not to bad. This Sunday (Today) we went to an old favorite, "Voulas Lakeshore Cafe" hadn't been there in a while , always good , always a wait , sometimes long sometimes not, but always worth it, and to add to the fun today My Buddy Tim and his group" The 84 Breakfast club" were in attendance and by all accounts concur with my long standing opinion , that Voulas is pretty darn good.                                  But enough about Voulas for now , "Been There Blogged That"    and will again I'm sure.                   Last Sunday we went to "Serious Pie /Serious Biscuit" on the recommendation of MSues Niece Angela, Angie and her boyfriend... scuse me, Fiance (as of that  sunday) J T( James Taylor) said it was good, and they have joined  the Famished Four from time to time, at Voulas and other places in the Seattle area, its nice to have a younger opinion on restaurants, they're  a lot of  fun and quite frankly the only younger people we know willing to get up early and nosh with the oldies.                   We actually could invite them along any time, they probably would show up, we'd have to change the name to  The Starving six Hmmm? .... So you might have guessed "Serious Biscuit" is a joint all encompassing said breakfast item, yep everything biscuit , It's a Tom Douglas Restaurant , to those of you who have been asleep for the last 20 years or one of my many out of town readers....this guy owns a lot of eatin joints in and around the city... if you are in Downtown Seattle and  Throw a rock any direction, the chance of breaking  one of Toms Windows is pretty darn good, I'd name em but I would probably forget one  or two......... So yeh, Serious Biscuit, thats what it is for Breakfast, the serious pie comes into play for lunch ....Toms version of Pizza , also pretty good, different time different blog .    We started out tryin to park downtown... its free, but not plentiful for street parking, but we dropped  Msue off at the door and went to find some, Serious Pie is on Westlake and Harrison in the South Lake union neighborhood of Seattle, two blocks south of Mercer, pretty easy to find... but not so easy to park, but park we did and after a couple of blocks of walking made it back to hook up with My lovely bride along with Angie and JT,      As you might expect we were not the only ones with this idea, so there was gonna be a wait, well then wait we must,    And since nothing makes waiting better then waiting in a bar........ They happen to have one .... Bloody Marys for all... well Ol Hot T and I any way, Msue had a Mimosa as did Smoj(Practically OJ right?) JT followed suit as well with one while Angie's choice was way more hip , some kind of spritzer I think....... The Bloody Marys were Bloody good,(as said aloud in a british accent) and we waited about 40 min to be seated.  If you have seen my Facebook Page of the same name I did post a pic of the menu.                               So sat we eventually did, and more beverages were brought  .. The usual , Ice Tea, Hot Tea, Coffee (darn good ,I might add), I think Smoj might of had a Virgin Mimosa...... and at some point during breakfast I had a Schaerhoeffer (a Hefeweizen with grapefruit Conncoction in a 16 oz can) mighty tasty....  Funny thing about that, I just happened to mention to Ol Hot T , that they had it on the drink list,5 bucks for a pounder, .......and next thing you know there it was, in front of me ..Waitressing on point? I think so!. I of course slurped it down with the gusto it deserved , Ive had it before but not for breakfast...dont judge                                                                                                                                                                                             Oh Yeah we did eat, and it was all pretty darn good , MSue had the fried chicken, which had  of course fried chicken (although dark meat) and my princess prefers her chicken white, but she did like it,  Her meal consisted of a biscuit carryin a piece of chiken with tabasco pepper gravy , and a biscuit on top, more gravy, Smoj had the biscuit special.... Same skit.piggybackin a crabcake and a hollendaise over all of it.... no leftovers, Ol Hot T had the Fennel Sausage Biscuit, it came with an  egg , pepper relish and fontina cheese... no bag of shame for the Hot  Man today.. food all gone!.         I of course had the Best Meal of the bunch, ( I usually do) Mine was called the Zach, which was basically the Fried chicken but with a fried egg and bacon... and might I add the egg was perfect, I had Yolky goodness along with gravy and bacon......Yumtastic!..... I'd like to tell some of my more concerned relatives, that I only ate a little of it.... Not True.......It dissappeared Like a beer on a Friday!.....So Yep ,Tom Douglas is serious about his biscuits, and they are what biscuits in my opinon should be  , light, yet dense enough to hold the Gravy!  buttery and delicious.                                       We will go back, theres some stuff I wanna try , can you say Catfish? , sure you can, its even better for breakfast... and Hushpuppies..... Yep next time               Im thinkin about oysters, although I didnt see em on Toms Menu, they might be some day...... I can always go to the Bay Cafe for those

Puyallup Is a Breakfast town!

Maybe its because I'm gettin older...Maybe cuz I'm gettin cheaper.. I don't know. , what I do know is I get a coupon for a breakfast at Charlies in Puyallup, cuz its my birthday! Yeh Yeh I'm a member of the birthday club, so every year they send me a two fer, yep pretty nice to be in such an elite club.        So as you've probably guessed , we went to Charlies this morning, Same old song and dance , same old Hot T and Smoj, Msue and Myself, on SEahawk Sunday no less, not to worry they have a bar in which to watch the game....we did not sit in the bar.... Why?      Well Im a bit Superstitious about watching a game in a bar. last two or three times Ive seen the Hawks play on a bar tv.... the've lost           Your Welcome Fans.... The Hawks won today.                                                                                      So breakfast?....We arrived later than usual for our am nosh, around 10:45,.... Hot T , Orange juice, Ice Tea and Coffee for starters....guess who got what?, yes My readers are a  smart bunch                     Msue had the"  Meat Square " which is a scramble menage of all breakfast meats , potatoes, eggs , peppers and onions...served on a Square plate, covered in gravy.... pretty big pile of food  it was ..Msue had quite a bit to take home..... Smoj had the undecided Breakfast, so named because of the contents of said Bfast... 1 pancake, 1french toast, 1 egg, bacon and  sausage . actually it was a pretty big plate of food, and it went down for the count with Smojs usual gusto . Ol Hot T went a little off the charts today, you see the Hot Man doesnt usually go to sweet side of Breakfast  he's almost always on the  Savory side, well sir He went all the way sweet today ... "The French Toast Tower"  which entails four slices of french toast, stuffed with creamcheese, strawberries, stacked up high, dusted with powdered sugar, and of course butter and syrup.. two kinds of syrup , maple and boysenberry, yep The Hot Man went through it like Msue through an outlet mall.                                 As far as My choice Today? I had Charlies famous "Chicken in a Biscuit"     all made up of a piece of fried chicken (boneless breast) on a home made biscuit , fried egg, bacon, cheese, the top of the biscuit, more cheese, and of course all covered in Sausage gravy....isn't everything tasty covered or dipped in gravy?     Yep the diet plate....... it came with little home fried taters, crispy puffs of taterliciousness.... couldnt eat em all, but my fellow noshettes helped me power through.                      We've been to Charlies  quire a few times, never had a bad meal yet, we have only had the morning meal there, but the lunch and dinner looks to be equally as tempting.        Lots a good joints down in Puyallup,  Crocketts is right around the corner, more of an upscale eatery, but good (featured on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives).. Auntie Bees is a couple blocks   away, been there, and the Rose Cafe is good as well.                                                                                                                                            We got back to the Seattle area last weds eve after 5 days in the beautiful wine country of northern Cali.........Sadly we ate breakfast each day at the hotel.... you know the drill , make yer own waffles, steam table eggs and meats, beverages of choice..not the best but adequate , we need strength to wine taste, we covered all the valleys , your Napa , Your Sonoma, Alexander, Bennett, yep we covered em all , about 40, yikes!  quite a few really but considering that Napa has 450 on its own, a mere drop in the bucket .         Yeh no special breakfast from California, but we did eat at some pretty cool joints for dinner.    First night s dinner was at the Russian River Pub in Forestville,( not far from Santa Rosa)... it was featured  on DDD (Diners Drive ins and Dives)   a little tavern in the boonies, with awesome grub, we all had Sandwiches, but Holy Crap what sandwiches! Msue had the tri tip , Ol Hot T had the Prime Rib sand, , Smoj had pulled pork......and I had what was probably the best Patty Melt Ive ever had, plus homemade sides, and o rings and fries .      We took a day and went into San Francisco......First stop....The Buena Vista.....IRISH COFFEES!! I had three,  whoops had to walk off those for a couple of hours.......... Dinner in San Fran? ...... Tommys Joynt!, again a sandwich night, they have other menu items but the sandwiches are cheap and huge, Also a DDD destination... guess the theme here?    And one night in Santa Rosa we went to a DDD destination for Mexican food La Texanita, good grub as well............and of course MSue and I cant go to Cali without a burger stop.........Good ol In N Out, on the way to the Airport........ So we did a lot of wineing  while there , very little beering , we did stop at the Rusian River Brewery before In N out and i got to have a Pliny the Elder Ipa...regretably only one, if I ever went to Santa Rosa for beer drinking I may not get out of that bar.......so many beers.. so little driving.... good combo.        Ok for now my Many followers                                                                               Heres to good food, and good friends!  Merry Mastication evryone!

Maggies aaannnd Maggies

Two weeks in a row?   Yeh , I know a tad out of character for me but it seemed like the right thing to do, considering the circumstances...      You all know how myself and the FF ( famished four)roll on these matters, we try to to go to new places but sometimes we just cant help our selves and we revert to some of our old haunts.......... Take "Maggies on Meeker" for instance,  its not the classiest of cafes, its not an intimate little bistro tucked away in some quaint part of Kent...(Hah ! Quaint and Kent?) thats like saying a quaint part of Lynnwood.      What Maggies is is good!  , good food, good service!......... What else they are is a neighborly place where friends meet for lunch or breakfast, its loud when crowded, mismatched tables and coffee mugs...... and if you happen to be at the Pied Piper Tavern next door?... you can get breakfast or lunch delivered from Maggies, What else Maggies has is the best ( yes I said best) homemade Cornbeef hash I've ever had, not to be confused with the standard fare canned  Hash available on the week days, this concoction of chunks o meat plus taters and veggies is available only on the weekends,  along with eggs perfecto and choice of toast.  I dont recall any of the food there disappointing  me or any of us ever.      We've had lunch at Maggies as well, equally as good,  Blts, burgers , clubhouse, yep standard lunch food but its always on point............My Spousal unit Msue, more times than not for breakfast, gets the Homemade Quiche , and they usually have 6 or 7 different varieties, She says . Its the best ever, its about 3 inches thick and delicious, I actually had it   today, it was the" Milwaukee" Quiche, bratwurst , cheese, onions and peppers.... Quite Tasty!.........The reason the names on the title twice is we went there today( Sunday) with Ol Hot T and Smoj, and Msue and I went there yesterday, I worked Saturday till (9:45) and met Msue after that............ she of course had the Quiche.. she wanted the Porker (full of meat) but alas the popular variety was sold out, she settled for the "Tuscan" in its stead,  ( Prosciutto, artichoke hearts, Parmesan)... I tasted it , and decided that maybe I'd order quiche someday, it was pretty darned good, and it didnt have to be covered in gravy for me to like it, although if it was? I'd so order it..... ok so she had the Quiche and I had a Waffle along with an egg and choice of meat(bacon) , also very good,But one egg?please!  You all know how I LOves me some eggs.... so I get two!...       The standard Breakfast menu reads as you'd suspect ,but on the weekends they have specials... usually always the same ones, along with the variety of Quiches and CB Hash I'm so crazy about, they have Meatloaf and eggs, the piece of meat loaf is as big as a brick, and a Chorizo Omelette, both MM! ....The griddle items are basic, but well executed, They have a fruit waffle that has a couple inches thick of assorted fruit, plus piled with whip cream, haven' t had that yet....they also have a Bacon Waffle.. Bacon right inside the darn thing.              So today it was Val and Kens (OLHot T and Smoj) choice, they had plans early afternoon so they opted for local and Maggies it was, and bein the easy goin types as Msue and I are? it was all ok with us.           we walked in this am rounda bout 10 , sat ourselves, which is protocol, OL Hot T and Smoj  joined us quickly after.           After a little deliberation  Val ordered Quiche Lorraine..(cheese and spinach) MSue opted for the Porker (Quiche) , Ham ,bacon... very oinky, I had the above mentioned Milwaukee Quiche, it came with a fruit bowl (they all do) and a side of dijon aioli, never have been a quiche guy, I can almost always find something  more breakfasty, and most obviously more macho , and of course all of this was washed down with our usual drink of choice.           Yep we went to Maggies two days in a row ,just cuz we like it! ...For some reason if you dont get enough to eat there they also have a wide variety of homemade desserts....cookies with entire peanut butter cups on them, soft squishy cinnamony snickerdoodles, cinnamon rolls.. or my personal favorite, Bran Muffins that taste like mini carrot cakes, Msue and her work crew sometimes lunch at Maggies and she always brings me one home.                               So my many followers if you do find your way to the "Quaint" side of Kent Washington , look up Maggies on Meeker   and dont be afraid of the Quiche     (Although once I think I overheard someone pronounce it kwi shay)..... Kent go figure.

I'm Baaack......

I know some of you are saying Blog? What Blog? tis true, its been since the beginning of the year since last I've taking fingers to keys to share my opinion (for whatever thats worth) on the Sunday ritual I have lovingly named "SundayBreakfast".          So much has happened this year, Cassidy (our youngest) was married on July 25th, after a year of planning by Msue and Cass, a few disagreements along the way, it all came together without a hitch (from my perspective) all I had to do was to put on a tuxedo and take a walk down the aisle with my little princess, I got through it pretty well all be it with a lump in my throat, but non the wiser, She was a beautiful Bride with a smile so big, it never came off her face the whole night!.... I did enjoy the evening, I muddled through my  " Father of the Bride" speech and actually kept my composure through most of it.     All in all, a very nice affair.  So to the Blog....     The Sunday after the Wedding ( on a Friday) We had a very special guest with us for our Sunday Breakfast, Chloe Engley  and her boyfriend Jake all the way from Australia attended the Wedding, Chloe was our Aussie Exchange student when Cass was in Highschool, it was so awesome to see her again, and to meet her boyfriend Jake...... Sooooo they went to bfast with Msue and myself. we took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island to "Nolas" a little bistro we've been to a few times with ol Hot T and Smoj, a beautiful morning in July a great ferry ride and a yumtastic  breakfast.    Chloe and Jake had the Eggs Benedict, Msue had the Chickenfried steak, and I cant go to Nolas and not have French toast, it's so yumbelievably good, thick Challa bread, with a bourbon orange butter and real maple syrup, thick sliced bacon...MM! , Msue and I had blood marys , Chloe, I think a Mimosa, plus we had coffee and ice tea and all the fixins of a Sunday feast, it was amazing !       The Ferry ride back had a little unexpected treat as well, My Friend and ex coworker Rob R. works for them, he's a
captain in waiting ( which I guess means he has to wait till enough retire to become one) I called him , and what luck, it was his boat we got on for the ride back , so we got  a tour of the pilot house, and a ride back to Seattle in style.... Thanks Rob!     Nolas is someplace everyone should try........some other noteworthy places we've dined?..... Well how about" The Tides"Tavern, on the water in Gig Harbor, Msue and I went there with her sister and brotherinlaw after a morning of crabbing in Commencement Bay, I think Herbie (Msues B i law) had the cornbeef hash, I again had French toast, I dont really recall what Msue and her sister Theresa had,but it was ok nothing really special about the food as I recall, but it was a beautiful day, and the Tides is an awesome venue, great place to people and boat watch, most of my Tides experience consists of Pizza and beer (both excellent),and which I highly recommend.           We have been to a few joints down  Ptown way, seeing that Cassidy and Brian live in Hillsboro now, one of these places is named "Seasons and Regions" we went there because Brian said they have oysters for breakfast.... frankly I dont know why more places dont offer Oysters and eggs, what a great combo! Yep sir we went there all right and instead of the oysters, I opted for the Razor Clams! Whaaat? holy smoke were they good!, tender and sweet, cooked perfect and along with eggs and browns mmmmm! Brian I believe had the oysters, Cass is so plain Jane at Bfast.... bacon and eggs, Msue had some sort of Scramble.. anyway it was all pretty tasty.... good coffee too, seems all the Cafes down in P town serve Stumptown coffee, take a lesson Seattle area joints land of Starbucks, start serving it in your cafes!.        Next on our Portlandian tour was the Reedville Cafe.... in? Yep! Reedville, not to far from Hillsboro, again I had Razor clams! are ya taking notes Seattle?    thats right seafood for breakfast ! what a concept also good coffee, (big surprise), Brian had the CB Hash, Cass had ......let me think.... oh yeh a Bloody Mary with Eggs and bacon, Msue followed it up with a Seafood Scramble with hollandaise  , Ice T aplenty, now I dont know if the food and beer options in Portland are enough to get me to move to the land  of Ducks but they do build a strong argument for it, along with the bookstores ,glass shops and transients its a lot like the Fremont area in Seattle only bigger... Yep Portlanders know how how to eat and drink, there's a Deli there we like named Kenny and Zukes, its in down town P...... one word....Eggsalad! recommended to me by a tatooed pierced waitress there as Amazing! it was and it keeps me coming back, along with mile high Pastrami sandwiches and of course Msues Favo...The After Thanksgiving Sandwich, which consists of as you might guess, Turkey , stuffing , cranberries and Gravy..... The Eidleweiss sausage house.... Im drooling just thinking about that place, every german style meat and sausage you can think of plus they make sandwiches and soup, the place is so busy, if your not ready when they call your number......NEXT!                   I brought home some fresh bologna and some Braunsweiger  ( liverwurst)  OMG ,much to Msues dismay.... oh so Tasty!        And all that is without our partners in crime Ken and Val, so that being said we have been to a few of the usuals lately , Charlies in Puyallup is always good.... talkin old school eatery here, kinda dark, big salad bar! really a salad bar? yep they got one, but not for breakfast, what they do have is good food, a great prime rib hash , a scramble they call a "square"  I guess because it comes on a square plate, great pancakes, and a Yumdiddly Monte Cristo Sandwich which our waitress recommended Hot boysenberry syrup as a dippin sauce... she got a nice tip that sunday it was so good I dont even remember what Hot T and Smoj had or Msue for that matter.. that was last sunday..... today we went to "Draft Choice", I guess  its in Auburn.... east Auburn headin towards Black Diamond any way we went there a few years back with Hot T and Smoj and today with Cass and Brian,     my new Son in Law wanted  something Chicken fried, so thats where we went.     Brian, Msue and myself  had the CFS    so amazingly tastelicious with eggs yer choice and browns today, we ordered the special potatoes, but alas they were out.... Cass had the breakfast Burrito , pretty good as well, along with two bloody marys , Msue had two bloody caesers(with clamato juice) with her bfast,Brian as well.... so with food and breakfast in a tavern,.. there goes....pull tabs!    no winners to speak of, a dollar here and there, bfast was close to 150 bucks.... but delicious and fun!  good thing I had only Coffee.......... So my many followers, we will meet again next Blog..... yes I will continue......dont hold your breath........ we will keep eating and I' ll keep giving my opinions Ad Nauseum. We are headin  down to Napa in a couple of weeks with Ol HotT and Smoj we'll see how Sunday Breakfast Napa Style works.... until then.....May all your breakfasts achieve Yumtasteliciousness!

Happy New Year... A new place and more1

Another Year over, another just begun,(thanks John Lennon).       Yep its true The Famished Four, is still on its journey, its quest ? Good Food, Good Company, and quite frankly we have found it in numerous places over these past two or so years.     We continue to converge on Sundays, the four of us and head out to some familiar places and some brand new as well. Some of the names change in our journeys.... but its basically the same Four ....Smoj (small o juice) or Val.... Ol Hot T (Ken)..... MSue, and myself.        I know at the beginning of all this , for those that might remember... the purpose, my quest , If I may, was to find a good breakfast and a great cup of coffee, we have found many great breakfasts, a few great cups of Jo, and quite frankly a ritual that none of us want to discontinue , so onward we'll go, Yes we will find some new joints...but I'm here to say some of the "Ol Stand bys" must be celebrated as well..     I was reading in the Seattle Magazine about some breakfast places that they quote as "The Best"  and some of them we have been to. The best is a tough label to put on anything, they claim Geraldines, in the Rainier Valley has the best French Toast.... ok it was good... the best? I guess thats why we keep going, I would think once I found the Best, my search would be over.... Yeh I know, the best that they tried out of how many? I get it, dont get me wrong Geraldines is a great little Cafe, and pretty good coffee to.... You should try it and form your own opinion.      Glos on Capital Hill was also listed.....The thing I remember about  Glo's is their Coffee was really good  and that Msue had ordered the Biscuits and Gravy... and didn't like it... no sausage in said gravy, mushrooms... it was a veggie version. And as is our Mode of Operation, if someone is not satisfied, its hard to go back.       The Places we continue to enjoy, because they continue to perform up to our standards.... although our standards are not that high....friendly service, good hot food and prompt beverage attentiveness  thats all we need!        At the top of our list are a few that keep up the standards                        At the top of my list? Well it's gotta be The Bay Cafe, for one and only reason...OYSTERS! pan fried, and delectable! along with 3 over perfect eggs and Hashbrowns Delishimundo ! its my Fav,  along with meeting the standards consistantly it is my choice for number one.          Now this opinion is not unanimous , my Darling Wife doesn't get all the excitement, to her its good, but there are places she prefers, Hot T and Smoj like it as well but they too have their own unique perspectives .          At the tippity top of Msue's is Voula's  Offshore Cafe, and I gotta say, Its darn good, Iv'e tried various menu items at Voulas and they have all been great, Msue on the other hand, has had but one.... She cant get past the 'Greek Hobo", which as some of you might know is a scramble of eggs, taters and assorted veggies, Feta cheese on top with some of their homemade hot sauce on the side.             Hot T's choice?  well I consider myself a good judge of character, and my buddy Ken is that! quite a character, and I think his choice would be , if I had to pick one.... I might have to go with "Pete's Egg Nest", a tiny cafe in Greenwood, holds about 50 people, its loud and tough to get into at times, but its family run, Mom, Dad,Brothers and Sisters who love what they do and it shows, foods hot and delicious and plentiful.         I'm going out on limb on this next one, Hot Ts lovely Wife Smoj's fav has got to be Charlies in Puyallup, for the same reason I like The Bay, Charlies has one menu item that Val just cant get past.... Chicken in a Biscuit.... consisting of said biscuit, topped with a piece of  a fried chicken breast, piggybackin a couple o eggs your way , the rest of said biscuit and...... wait for it..........Covered in Country Gravy!   Holy Smacalicious ! it is good! .       The Above Joints Du Jour, also pass, in flying colors, the Standards we live by, so we frequent these often, although its been a while for Petes or the Bay Hmmm.   Other places on our radar have been Maggies on Meeker ( Kent) they have Msues Bacon Waffle and on the weekend, probably the best Homemade Corned beef hash I've ever had, yeh I know I said  Best.... strictly my opinion,    The Chelan Cafe.... always good, Pancakes MM! and what I call a hangover cure, Country Benedict! Biscuits topped with Sausage patties, poached eggs, and smothered and covered with the choice of country or their Sausage gravy... I always opt for the latter, a respectable breakfast sirloin with the Steak and eggs as well .           Dixies in Sumner also fits the chart for the FF's Sunday Mastication ritual, also family run , huge portions .... and DADS POTATOES ! almost like french fries, but sliced Yumtastic!      I know there are many I have not mentioned, but these are our usual haunts, creatures of habit that we are!,  I know Iv'e gone on ad nosseum   about Standards, and quite frankly there is one place where the food was probably as good as food can get, but service by design was the worst Iv'e ever experienced , it's Darbys Cafe in Olympia, visited by Guy Fietti in Diner's Drive ins and Dives and rated quite well, I had an amazing dish called " Oysters Creole" absolutely wonderful, but it took 3 hours to get it..... forget it ..... not going back.               There is however a new place we just visited , What?  Yep a new joint in Lakewood of all places, actually it's new to us, it's not a new restaurant..... Its" Carrs" Msues Friend and Co worker Yvonne stumbled on to it and figured we'd like it.... and like it we did!       Its easy to find, right on Bridgeport Way, not far from the Airforce base.     Carr's decor is appropriately in the automobile and travel motif, much like Daves Diner in Sea Tac (also a FF Fav) you know,  license plates , street signs , etc., and the menu follows suit, its in a Car Motif, I had the "Garage Breakfast" consisting  of biscuits and gravy Yumadoo!two eggs over perfect and enough of the most crispy and delicious hashbrowns that I have ever had the pleasure to dip in ketchup! by enough I mean enough for the the whole table , on one plate!, Msue had the Philly Steak Omelette, (as a Scramble) and the ungodly same amount of Browns, along with her Ice Tea w/lemon it was mighty good, Ol Hot T was not in attendance this AM....too bad for Kenny, but his lovely spousal unit Smoj, was there flyin solo. Her choice along with a small cranberry juice, was the "Mediterranean  Metro omlette, as a Scramble of course, spinach, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes and kalamata olives with her choice of roasted potatoes instead the Brontobrowns, very satisfied was Val, she kept sayin  "boy Ken would like this place" , so I guess we gotta go back>>> darn!,    We had a couple of guest stars with us today Our Dear friends Tim and Kate (cute as a bug ) Guerrero, Kate (caab) had, I believe the "Volvo" Veggy omlette with the roasted spudllies, also up to her discerning taste!     Carrs is all about the upgrades, just like an Auto dealer I asked for a Blood Mary, was asked if would like to upgrade to pepper vodka? I declined,   the Amazing Hashbrowns also offered upgrades, such as onions or peppers or cheese, or gravy, I Opted for the onions.... Delish! even the coffee had choices.... light or dark roast, all us Jo sippers went with the Dark!                And last but not least Tims choice was the French Toast plate along with eggs and bacon, and he ate Kates Potatoes...... So Terrific , we found a new joint that we all loved, sans OlHot T,I'm sure we will be back and I'm sure he will adore it                                                                                                                                                                      Heres to Good Friends and Good Food!                                                                                                                  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Portland and Seattle.... and some points in between

Its been so long since I've done this I hope I remember where I left off.... So much has happened since last I blogged where do I begin?       Well, I spose I could start with the news of my youngest daughters engagement, her and Brian have decided it was time to make it legal, and her Mom and I quite frankly couldn't be more happier , Brians a great guy and I know he will treat her like the Princess she has grown accustomed to being..... Sorry Brian....    Lucky for us they were in town this weekend and joined us for breakfast today, on this My darling brides birthday eve, of course we went to Voulas, Msues nosh of choice,we were joined today not only by Brian and Cass, but Brians Dad Mike, and other friends Ron and Julie Printz and their son Hunter,so we had quite the the crowd with us today.      Not much to write about that you havent already heard, Voulas is amazing, Msue had the Greek Hobo, I had the "Vagabond Hobo", which consisted of eggs, potatoes, cheese, house made chorizo and assoreted peppers and onions, topped with Pico De Gallo...... pretty darned good ,and a lot of food, as I only ate a small  portion , lunch tomorrow!          Yes in my lack of Blogging, eat we still did, we were in Portland the first week of July, where we spent the week at the Hotel Monaco (courtesy of a great deal) procured from our little princess Cassidy , she works for the Kimpton hotel chain and is stationed at the Monaco.        Personally, I find Portland a little weird, that being said , weirdness aside, there is a ton of places to eat, and even more coffee houses, all the cafes seem to have really good coffee,as apposed to Seattle.        One of our stops was a little bar and grill named "Tasty and Alder"  ( a recomendation from Cass)  I had the Bim Bop,bacon and eggs, which was a bowl of rice, Kim Chi, and assorted veggies and of course bacon with a teryaki type sauce topped with a couple of fried eggs, and as the name sez...quite tasty.      The highlight of our dining experience wasn't for breakfast, we went to a place in Portland named the "Screen Door" for dinner, we were joined by Brian and Cass of course, and our friends Eric and Patty Baker (our Lake Oswegian friends)joined us as well.       The Screen Door is a little place in NE Portland specializing in southern home cookin.... we had Fried Chicken (Amazing) Hush Puppies, Catfish and Oysters, not to mention Collards and bacon....everything was fried and delish! along with that amazing experience, we were  going to have dinner at Cass and Brians one night , but after a long day of shopping with the kids, we ended up getting some Thai take out, it was a fun week all in all bumming around Portland, seeing the kids..... oh yeh! Kenny and Zukes Deli, got to mention that, no stop in PTown is complete without an Egg Salad san and some of their homemade Pastrami!        MSue had a great Idea, on the day we were going to leave, instead of eating in Portland, lets stop in Olympia at Darbys Cafe, another one of "Guy Fierris" Diner Drive ins and Dives  choices, we have been wanting to go for a long time, they serve Oysters.    I had the Oysters Benny... actually its been so long Im not sure of the name, but it was quite delicious. MSue had the Chicken fried  steak.. also delish...... one Caviat     Darbys, while the food was very good, the service was terrible, they didnt care and it showed, they even had a sign that read if you want your food fast? go to Burgerking, and with all of that, the place was still packed, although a few did get up and leave.   Darbys is also on the Diner Drive in and Dive list.. I had to get my own Coffee, and Msues Ice T, she finally got it with the food, but 2.5 hours later we were headin back home... will we  go back? Hell no! there is just not enough time in Life.     On a brighter note we have been to Daves Diner in Seatac.. Home of the Motherlode CFS, the size of a small roofing shingle, Maggies in Kent, home  of the bacon waffle and possibly the best bran muffin I'.ve ever eaten, I always get them to go., We went to the Buttered Biscuit in Sumner, tons of food and tons of people, Browns point Diner of course.. good bloody marys.....   Tomorrow night is Mary Sues Birthday dinner... We're Goin to Vinces... still the best Pizza in town. when inspired I shall blog again, until then oh yeh! I think I will end my blog with my Beer of choice for the month, I know its not breakfast... well ok sometimes it is.... drumroll please  ....................the IPA from Fremont Brewing!   Hoppy and Delicious, their Slogan is "because Beer Matters"    Im in total agreement.. Beer.... its not just for breakfast any more!    Beer is Food! or for my dyslexic friends   Reeb is Doof!

Roanoke Inn Tavern and more!

Hello my many followers!, I realize that these Blogs arn't coming every week, but lately the Ol Ball and.... I mean my Lovely Wife has been keeping me kinda busy, not a lot of "Sit Down Time" so I thought I'd just combine a few of the local spots, plus a new one.             The Roanoke Tavern reminds me of a joint on some remote Lake where the locals gather to talk about their day or plans, where they sell fishing tackle and liquor ,pour you a cold beer. A place where they talk about the giant Lake Trout, that few have seen, and some come close but no one has landed...things  that legends are made of with names like "The General" or "Troutasarus"  perhaps only in my world, ....The Roanoke Inn and Tavern is a Homey little place in a Homey little part of Mercer Island, where locals probably do go on Sundays...or any other time . My friend "Ol Hot T" has been wanting to go there for quite some time and since we don't often bow down to the requests of myself or for him (it is mostly the girls requests) big surprise huh? We thought we would go, must have been at least a month ago, probably more..... its one of those walk right in sit right down places, I normally like, and I did like it, we all did, buuutt.... nothing really exciting , the Menu is short, breakfast anyways, Nothing to entice us Aubernites into travel, but like I said it was good, The Chikas had Mimosas, Ol Hot T had a Bloody Mary,Oddly I did not, for I do love a good one. I believe the ladies ordered The Spinach Omelette...with mushrooms and Jack Cheese...of course Val (Smoj) had to sub some of the choices, she prefers swiss.....yawn.... they both ordered them as a scramble, and of course MSue had her eggswelldonesideofsalsa! there may have been a side of bacon for her as well , Really?   The Ol Hot one had the sausage and eggs, and I had the ham steak along with said huevos,.... If Im on the Rock and its lunch time I may the Roanoke again, but bfast wasn't all that special... I believe the coffee was good  tho, it must have been spendy i think I only had two cups............              Mothers Day weekend.... no Hot T or Smoj this time, just Msue, Myself and the Children, Jessica and Cassidy, we braved the crowds and since it was Mothers Day, the choice was all Msues, and where do you suppose she wanted to go?   no not Spuds, they dont serve breakfast, although I could eat their fish and chips anytime.   Nope we went to Voulas Offshore Cafe, it is MSuse's favo! and rightly so, its awesome! always delivers an outstanding meal, My Lovely Bride had what she always has, the Greek Hobo! a scramble with  potatoes  eggs and veggies , topped with Feta cheese.          Although Voulas has a broad menu, lots a good choices, she never differs.     Jessica had the "Pinata Benedict"... Amazing! their own pulled smoked pork with Chipoltle infused hollandaise .... so good!     Cassidy, bless her just like Dads heart, had the "Big Voula" three eggsters, bacon and greek sausage along with hashbrowns and toast, one of my go too's at Voulas.            I went a little off center this trip, I ordered the special of the day, " The Achilles"  which consisted of a homemade Pita with a feta/pepper    kind of schmear on it, topped with Voulas crispy thick bacon, arugala ...annnd two Eggamundos over perfecto on top, kind of a greeky Huevos Rancheros, and if that wasnt enough,Voulas Browns the best around! as well yep indeedy, Mothers Day Breakfast perfected!    Spuds?  yep! went there for dinner!        I really shouldn't close this post with out a nod to one of our favorite locals... lately weve been going there just cuz its pretty darn good and close!   right in Downtown Kent, now for you Northend readers Kent is like a small Lynnwood, but with prettier girls.... Oh the name?  Maggies on Meeker..... cuz its on Meeker street... in Kent... cmon keep up.       The Food is always good, the service is great, the food can be slow, but the kitchen is small and the joint is pretty big, we went there today Msue and my self, great  as usual, they do some specials on the weekends.... all I can say is the Cornbeef hash on said weekend special is the best Ive ever had, the weekly fare variety is canned but the special is unbelievable!     You can even go to the Pied Piper Tavern,(next door) if you must have a beer with your breakfast and order from Maggies, also they have stubendaerific baked goods , and there is always a house special Quiche or two on the board.   MSue likes it cuz they make a bacon stuffed waffle just for her!........... So friends until next nosh... Adieu!

The Harmon,Pub and Brewery... and Breakfast !

I cant seem to tear myself away from the Masters to compose a bit in regards to our Sunday Nosh... so if I disappear from time to time you'll know why.      So The Harmon?  yep its a like the title says " A bar" and a darn fine one judging from past encounters, never breakfast but we have had dinner there a few times....Two words...French Dip! best around, so last time there we noticed they serve Breakfast, and we finally got around to it this morning.          Ol Hot T and Smoj were on the docket today and picked us up a little before ten...tennish anyone ?   The Harmon is on Pacific ave. across from Union Station (sort of) in the City of destiny we call Tacoma, just south of a Starbucks (isn't every place) which is where we parked, a little stroll and we were at "Our" place of destiny, a window seat looking out at beautiful Tacoma.        The Harmon must have had a busy Saturday night cuz the place a faint urine smell to it.    it appears that they dump sawdust on the floor and sweep it out, it would explaine the garbage cans full of slightly soggy sawdust out side .       But no worries they had 3 dollar Bloody Marys  and Mimosas so all was good ,Yes indeedy  I did partake as well as the other three, tho the Chickas had Mimosas, The Bloody Marys were heavy on horseradish and spicygood !       The menu is limited for breakfast, 3 kinds of Benedicts, basic eggs and meat of choice, a couple of Omlettes, Pancakes, biscuits , gravy....and a Monte Cristo Sandwich.... Oh yeh and a Chicken Fried Steak.              Msue had the CFS with hashbrowns eggsscrambledwelldonesideofsalsa! what? no toast? nope! none offered, strange she thought.      I don't think she was particularly  thrilled with her choice, as she stated it did not appear  to be freshly made, more of the frozen type, nothing really to complain  about, but not enough to take a picture of either.     His Highness of Hot T ordered the Basic Egg and Meat du Jour offering, his choice was Sausage .        Smoj and myself had the Monte Cristo Sandwich, which weirdly came with two eggs.... but I loves My Chicken Embryos, so I was pleased.       The food arrived Sans sausage and salsa, which the Tattooed hoop earing, mohawk sporting waiter apologized and quickly brought Ken a platter of sausage links and MSue a bowl of Salsa.....dude this is not Fremont!, but capable he was . Kens breakfast was ok, although  the extra plate of sausage helped.      I gotta say The Monte Cristo was pretty darn good.... pretty darn big  and with the addition of two eggs  quite a generous helping.      For those unaware of said sandwich, the Monte Cristo is kinda like a French toast club sandwich.. but no bacon,  Turkey, Ham, and Swiss double decked  in frenchtoast, panfried, and for dipping this one had Blueberry syrup ( its usually strawberry Jam), it was really good, I unfortunately ate all of mine, which commanded a short nap once I arrived home  , Val manged to eat half of hers.        I think Bacon would be good on it however.... really Jim? of course it would!  the Coffee was pretty good as well , as I did not require a stop at the Starbucks.        The Harmon, a good Bar,good beer and a decent breakfast!

A High Spot and more

Well since last we noshed with the Brunners aka Ol Hot T and Smoj, MSue and I have been around a bit.                 We last chewed with Hot T and Smoj when we ate at the 5 Spot in QueenAnn , twas my latest blog! and like I stated previously, MSue and I have been around, the weekend following that last episode, MSue and I went to the Cafe we were supposed to have gone to when we we mistakenly  dined at the 5.     We met some friends of hers from work and went to the HI Spot Cafe in Madrona, its between Cherry and Whatever on 34th.       Long story short .... Damn Good!, bit of a wait it was, but worth it!   MSues coworker and his wife along with their little boy, (3 or 4 yrs old)" Milo". .. Its a cute little place, and old house, but arnt all the cute little cafes , old house conversions?, The Cafe specializes in baked goods, muffins , scones etc.which  looked scrumdidlyishes, but lo I did not partake, for I was just gettin over a bout of case of the Yuk and Pukes, and still a bit queezy.      MSues friend Scott did however and ordered a Savory Scone ( they have sweet as well ), a chicken and cheese affair, that passed his inspection with flying colors, for his breakfast, he ordered the biscuits and gravy, the gravy was Chorizo sausage and quite spicy, but pretty good, his breakfast also came with eggs, he ordered over easy, they arrived over wiggly, a little to runny in the whites for my likin, but all mixed up with the gravy, it didnt seem to bother Scott much.  His Wife Andrea had a Smoked Salmon , dill and caper omlette, which she seemed to enjoy, their little boy Milo, had lemons and milk, and water and fruit and eggs and cheese and crackers and anything else that was put in front of him.... cute little guy , good appetite and very well behaved.    MSue had a customized scramble of sorts, Tomatoes ,spinach, feta cheese , probably a shroom or two.. oh yeh, sideosalsa! as for me? well my tender constitution had the Brioche French toast with almond butter and REAL syrup, it was pretty darn good, and the coffee was tasty as well "Fonte" I believe was the brand, and brewed to perfection I had about a gallon. We will have to go  back with Smoj and Hot T... I gotta get me a scone!     The following Weekend again without our cohorts, was a visit to Voulas Offshore Cafe, this time Msues Sister and her husband were drug along for our Sunday ritual, MSue had her usual... Greek Hobo, eggs ,taters, veggies, feta cheese, all mixed up like a dogs lunch, although no side o salsa,as Voulas makes their own hot sauce... mmmtastylicious! Her Sister Theresa, we call her Weeweese, (dont ask, we just do) had the Pinata benedict, which is assembled on a muffin with Voulas own pulled pork,(they smoke it on premises) poachy de eggys and covered with a chipoltle hollandaise .... Holy Caloric overload!! and some of the best cripsy browns around! , Weeweese's husband Herb, we call him Herbie(cuz we do ) had the Greek Hobo, just like MSue, he liked it,but I think he would have rather had the Pinata Benny.like I and his wife had... cuz its awsome! Yep Yep Voulas is goood!             So the next Sunday Cuisine I believe MSue and  I flew solo, ya see, were goin to have breakfast on Sunday, even if we have to go by ourselves, MSues rules!! I think we went to Maggies on Meeker (Kent), nothing really special there quite frankly, but my Girl likes their Bacon Waffles , yep bacon in the waffles, along with?.... Yep a side o Bacon ( her favorite fruit), I had the Bacon (see the theme here) and Eggs along with browns  , pretty good.        Our next trip out was to the Browns Point Diner, one of my very favs, although we had not been there in a while due to a particularly awful plate of eggs benny,(normally outstanding there), yes we gave it another chance..... also solo..... Total Redemption!!! although we both went  old school basic Bacon and eggs, it was pretty amazing, mine anyways, for my Lovely Wife orders her eggsscrambledwelldonesideofsalsa!, thats a tough thing to cook!...mine were over perfect and full of yolky goodness soppin it up with sourdough toast...... MM!............... And almost finally we were in Portland, (weird little city)   Dog sitting for our daughter  Cassidy and her boyfriend Brian, (she calls him Bri Bri)... I however do not! it was Brians birthday and Cassidy surprised him with a trip to the Ocean, which they could not bring their cuddly little boxer Stella to this particular hotel, soooo Msue and I (Gramma and Grampa to Stella)...... so breakfast? ooooh Portland may be weird , but you can sure eat good there, and it seems no matter where we have gone down there the food has been exceptional and the coffee is caffeinogasmic!!, This time we went with our friends Eric and Patty Baker (Lake Oswego) to a tiny little cafe called SteppingStones...... HolyMolyScmoly! another gem in the weirdness I call Portland, MSue had an Omlette served as a Scramble and..... a side of bacon ( she likes bacon), Patty had uh..... I cant recall quite frankly, something basic, but along with her something basic.... she ordered a Mancake, its like a pancake, only the size of a manhole cover,... butter and syrup oh my but it was gihugent! Eric and I ordered Identically... Country Bennedict.... Homemade Biscuit, sausage patty, eggsdelapoachy, all covered and smothered in their homemade Sausage gravy...oh yeh and a pile o homefries.....Caaarb up! yep and some really good coffee as well .       I try not to like Portland, but I think its working its weirdness on me , lotsa good food, and of course Cassidy and Brian live there, as well as my Nephew Brian and his Wife Michelle and there little dude ," G Man" Gabrial! My one regret that weekend is we didnt get to see them, bad planning on my part, next time fo sho!...... This Sunday the whole gang was back together! Yep Ol Hot T and Smoj Graced us with their presence  and joined us for our sunday nosh.    We went to Charlies in Puyallup its been a FF(Famished Four) staple for quite some time now, I wont  get to into it , but its just a good place to eat, they have some signature dishes called Squares... which are really scrambles on square plates, and a  a dish that I call MM!.. its their "Chicken in a Biscuit" it consists of ..said biscuit, along with a piece of crispy fried chicken breast, fried egg annnnd covered in country gravy, forget that waist line Jimbo cuz weez goin to Charlies!.     Msue this time had CFS along with some pretty good Browns, Val had the Chicken in a biscuit , Ol Hot T Had the Pancake breakfast.... cakes ,all you can eat !,meat de jour and eggs,    Guess what I had ? nope Eggs Benny! Ive never had it there and while it was no Chicken in a biscuit it was pretty good.  Yeppers Charlies in Puyallup Great grub Great service!...... All you can eat pancakes!!! how frikkin many pancakes can you eat? at my age the answer is Two! yep Two its all I can eat!   I want to know where was this kinda place when I was in my twenties ? I'd a been there all day!!!

A pleasant mistake " 5 Spot Cafe" Queen Anne

So, I have this friend of mine at work, for the sake of privacy lets just call her Theresa.     Any way , she knows of  the "Famished Four"  (FF) exploits and our pention for all things breakfasty (ooh good word)  often times she asks "Where did you go this last Sunday?" followed by you guys really need to try the 5 Spot, my daughter gos there and she just loves it....... Yeh Yeh, its on our radar, we 'll go there at some point, frankly we have quite a few favs lately, such as Paddy Coynes (Tacoma) , Chelan Cafe (West Seattle) and close to home is Maggies on Meeker (Kent) so we havent really ventured into new locales lately. Last Sunday was our day for newness, we the FF decided we'd try  sumpin new, so off to Queen Anne we scooted, thru the Mercer mess and on up to the top of the counterbalance sits our quest.         Holy Crap do people really drive thru this part of Seattle during the week?, my GPS was constantly telling me to take the next legal U turn , which all could've been avoided , by taking 99 to  the Q A neighborhood or just following the Detour signs might have helped, ( as suggested by M Sue) but eventually we did get there, parking is on the street by the the big KIRO tower so I dropped off my driver assistants at the door and parked in peace, bout a block away, I havent been up in that area for a long time... its nice, Cool Houses, narrow streets, quintessentially Seattle!.        By the time I ambled in to the 5 Spot,  MSue and Ol Hot T and Smoj were at a charming corner table by the window, beverages in tow, my Coffee on the way..... Holy Mackeral!..... they  tout  that Stumptown is their Caffeine Du Jour, this is gonna be Epic!  I have one word for Stumptown Coffee.... MM!  ( yes its a word, I use it when somethings awsome).      The 5 Spot's Menu changes every quarter, or as it suits them, and we happened into a celebration of the Carolinas, southern cookin?... MM!,( theres that word again) needless to say, I for one was excited.       The Service was cute and prompt, bevs were on point and full, The food choices for the Famished Four went thusly ,Smoj along with her namesake oj ordered the Biscuits and gravy, as did MSue (they copy all the time) with the exception of beverages, hers of course was Ice Tea W/lemon , Ol Hot T ordered Eggs Val Verde,.... a Scramble sort of thing with avocado  and cilantro and a Chorizo Chub standin guard over his grub...and Hot T of course, mine was as usual, the best of the bunch.  I had me the "Low Country Benedict"  Split homemade biscuit, thick cut ham, fried green tomato, a pair of perfect poachers, all smothered in a pimento cheese,as opposed to the usual hollendaise, crispy froasted red spuddlies, I say froasted, cuz they appeared to fried and roasted ... whats that word again? oh yeh MM!.     Now I know what your thinking... another great grubfest for the Famished Four... Not so fast my Bloggerphyles, twas not all twinkles and goodness, Smojs Skits and gravy were cold, bless her heart, when the waitress asked how things were tasting? Smojs reply was the Gravy supposed to be cold? of course not! came the reply ,soooo it was whisked away and promptly replaced with a steaming pile of breakfast much more to Vals (Smoj) liking, MSues same breakfast, was not as hot as she would like, but she did not send hers back, although she did state that it was not the best sausage gravy she had eaten, which in itself is a tough sell, for MSue's sausage gravy is beyond reproach!! she did however like her side of Bacon.            The biscuits were good.... the gravy? not so much Ol Hot T enjoyed his meal, and mine was outstanding!  will we go back?  , I might , but its along way to go by myself, and after all this is a group thing.    I can tell you are a bit perplexed by the title of this "A pleasant mistake"     well let me splain it , I was looking forward to telling my friend (Theresa) that yes ,we finally went to her suggested Cafe, and that while not perfect, i did enjoy my meal... I might go back for Fried Green Tomatoes....MM!, so that following Monday I marched into the office and boldly stated, I bow'd to your constant requests and we ate at the 5 Spot yesterday!..... She said back, 5 Spot? wheres that? noooooo, I suggested you go to the "Hi Spot" in Madrona...... Crap! Oh well My bad...... apparently the "Hi Spot" has to die for baked goods , I guess another Blog another time  :)            JR.

Super Blog!

Yeh, you dont have to tell me, I'm aware my many followers that I am not keeping up on the Breakfast Posts.         So I'm gonna try something thats never been done before.... Wait.... I'm going to Blog on 3 Restaurants at the same time, so hang on get a cup o jo, here we go!   The time frame is fuzzy but lets just say we visited these places between August and now.          Ok the first joint the FF(Famished Four) prescence graced was a little place in the  Columbia City neighborhood of Seattle. called" Geraldines Counter", I remember  it was a sunny , beautiful day and we were starving! the whole area down there is going thru a bit  of revamp, homes, restaurants etc, its becoming nicer and people are showing up!        We had a bit of a wait, seems to me, not to bad, 10 or 15 minutes tops, the joint was jumpin lets just say.       So we were seated and bev orders were taken...do I have to say?... ok Msue ,Ice T w/lemon, Ol Hot T oh cmon! yep Hot T, and Smoj had H20 , and of course got to have My Coffee, after all its the whole purpose of this bloggin thing right?  .... The perfect combo of Grub an Jo........ and quite frankly, I really could stop anytime, for there are a few places that rank pretty high , but alas I will not stop, to dissapoint my many fans out there?, (all five of you) well, its would be selfish!              So Food you ask?  Msue had the Bfast Casserole, eggers cheese veggies all baked, kinda quiche like, but no crust..... welldonesideosalsa! of course, Rave reviews until she tasted mine, which I will get to in a moment..... Smoj.. along with her water...yawn... had the small french toast, crispy and delicious ! was her comment, and  I gotta say, looked pretty good, thick, kinda small, but something I could see my self ordering at some point, only perhaps a larger version .
Ol Hot ordered the "Homemade CB Hash"    H Tizzle likes his hash , he duz! along with eggs poached I believe, and the toast of the Rye persuasion, nice lookin plate o groceries for Ken.                  You know me, I hate to be the star attraction all the time, but heck someone has to right? its my damn blog is it not?....... Big surprise here ..... CFS, sausage gravy, crispy browners, eggs over perfect... and the coffee? well lets just say it was Jotastic!, its funny I at first thought my portion of cfs was a little tiny, until I realized they had to fold it in half to fit it on my plate! Yep Yep! , darn good food, great service. Geraldines Counter, a return trip? most Def!                                     Right onward we go, so after that weekend, again not sure exactly, but after. we dined at the Portage Bay Cafe (U Dub district), I know ,faithful followers will remember we dined at the Ballard version of said Cafe and did not care for it, as far as Im concerned the whole organic thang! is a little overrated , an excuse to charge more.... that bein said it took a bit of convincing for me to go here, but go we did and this time we ditched OL Hot T and Smoj for some other friends..... Ok Ken and Val were in Portland or camping or had other plans, they just couldnt make it.      Lucky for us we have back up !     Tim and Kate Guerrero were are guests today.    Msue and I stayed at the Alexis Hotel that Saturday, a friend of hers got married and had their reception at the Hotel, so we stayed the night, we after all are quite fancy folks and like to turn it up up a notch from time to time.         Tim and Kate picked us up at the hotel sunday morning and off to the Portage Bay Cafe we went.         First off we called ahead to get our name in, on another beautiful sunday in Seattle, I dont really know what good it did, we still waited about 45 min, but the weather was nice and the coffee was good, no heavy biggy.      When we finally did get in and seated we learned it would be worth the wait.     I believe MSue had an Omlette, ordered as a scramble, eggswelldonesidosalsa! crispy hashbrowns and toast, dry wheat(yuk..dry wheat?) but thas how she likes her toast.    Kate on the other hand ordered the French Toast, which is famous there, its made with Challa Bread! thank you my jewish friends, your egg bread is delish!, thick and chewy! and cooked to a crispy perfection! what makes the F Toast here so special is they have a fixins bar for toppin yer toast! along with sryup, there is berries of all kinds ,whipped cream, apples, nuts and more fruits than I recall plus granola! afterall it is the Portage Bay!       Tim had the cornbeef hash! big chunks of meat and taters plus eggs over perfection and coffee as well he said it was Yumtastic!     (see, all my friends talk like that now)          I , not to brag, but my food was the best again!    hah hah nut in yer eye! I had the" Country Breakfast" which consisted of Three perfectcly cooked eggasaurus's over medium , sausage, bacon, brownersdecrispy....and a choice of pancakes or french toast, I of course opted for the latter, cuz it meant a trip to the fixins bar, and did I say the coffee was great, well it was .      So the second time to the Portage bay Cafe was a huge success great food, good company, it sounds sort of cliche ish, but it doesent get much better.       We did miss Ol Hot T and Smoj, but we will return, with em  in tow at some point.                     O k !!!!  next up is Voulas Offshore Cafe ,just a few blocks down the the street from Portage bay cafe, and right next door to the Famous Northlake Tavern!  , now weve been to Voulas many times, in fact its MSues Favorite place, she loves their Greek Hobo, but this time was differant, this time we had Patty and Eric Baker with us, great friends, they were up from Portland for Cassidys college grad party, and speaking of Cass, she came along as well, her boyfriend Brian did not attend breakfast he was playing golf with his Bros and his Pop, this time we really had to wait along time....easily an hour, but again nice and sunny not a big deal.     MSue of course had the Greek Hobo, eggs potatoes, and veggies all mixed up and topped with Feta cheese and baked to a crisp deliciousness that my wife so dearly loves, and Ice T w/lemon by the gallon,  what Patty  had escapes me, I guess  I need to take notes, i do remember she liked it a lot. Eric had the Irish Hobo, just like MSues but with cornbeef and cheddar, coffe as well for Eric.  So this time the Star of the meal was twofold, Cassidy and I both had the Chipoltle Bennedict! which consisted of  Voulas homemade smoked pulled pork (so good)  ridin topside of a muffin and smothered with their Chilpoltle hollandaise  , the food here is so good I sometimes forget the coffee is crappy, it doesn't really matter, Im gonna get it any ways............ so thus ends the bloggin for today I hope all five of you fans o mine got their fix, I will try to keep up a better pace... it is October, which means my birthday, which means, Charlies in Puyallup, Ima member of their exclusive club(I get bfast free for my bday) maybe I'll write about it!

A we bit o Irish nosh!

Well I have one word to say about our Breakfast at Paddy Coynes (Tacoma Version) MM! . Yes its a word, pronounced mm!! as in mm good!, ok I have more than one word.... duh.   Last Sunday, Ol Hot T and Smoj arrived at  Casa De Robey, bout 9ish, not too early not too late , just right.        The decision to go to Paddy Coynes was governed by a "groupon" that our uber thrifty friends (Hot T and Smoj) brought with and supplied... saved a few bucks... thanks guys.           Paddy Coynes  the Tacoma version is on about 8th and Pacific , super easy to find, parked right across the street , walked right in sat right down, sounds like a song does it not ?     We  were not the only ones  in the bar ,but it was pretty close, the young waiter approched the table and informed us of the 2.99 Bloody Marys and Mimosas.... Yeppers, bring us a round! I boldly shouted....well I think I said yes please, but they came and they were delish! probably the best... well a close second ( Nolas Bainbridge Isl), and get this they have a make your own Bloody Mary, where you can add anything you wish, condiment wise... sooo if you want 10 olives?... Spear em up! We however elected to let the bar create our Bfast Libations... excellant they were! Spicy and nicely balanced, served tall.   The Chickas opted for the Mimosas, the champagne version, also offered was a spiced rum type...interesting.         The Menu was interesting , what with Bangers and rashers and all things Irished up, Smoj ordered the Irish Bennedict, served on toast with Rashers (Irish Bacon) eggs your way, Hollandaise of course and some superterrific spudalinos, along side... crispy and delicious!     Hot T, did not have Tea, figured the B Mary would suffice, as far as chewable fare he opted for the Cornbeef Hash, eggs his way (over easy)... and topped with Hollandaise... What? Yep thats how it came, and it looked awsome!    Ol Hot concurred that it was , might just be my choice next time.         Now as far as MSue's , she ordered the Steak and Eggs, weird wild stuff huh?, usually if her food doesnt come all mixed up side of salsa, it dont come at all, but Steak and Eggs it was... eggsscrambledwelldone...no salsa?  same spuds as all, Steak ordered medium rare , and it arrived MEDIUM RARE!  nicely cooked piece of cow!  Sirloin, breakfast sized, but nice and thick, it also came with a brown pan gravy(country gravy they called it) on top of the meat, which she did order on the side, alas it did not arrive as such, the waiter was very apologetic... its ok MSue stated, good thing it was awsome, toast as well and plenty of Iced T,happy happy girl, and you know when MSues happy the whole day just goes better for all concerned.           My food is gonna sound a little anticlimatic, for I ordered the same breakfast as MSue, or she as I for I did order first, with the exception of my eggs were over perfect, and there was three of the little darlins right between my perfectly cooked med rare sirloin, covered in smacklippin gravy and the crispy taters ala awsome, along with toast and some darn fine coffee as well. Orange Marmalade Butter?  yep it came with the toast, Hot T said it was really good, big marmalade fan that I am, I was to enthralled with the yolky goodness of the eggs and the  yumtasterrific gravy, that I just couldn' be bothered with jam and butter, too much good soppin goin on!..... Sooo yep!   One word describes it all right    MM!     Second trip on the horizon no doubt!
